Folder Guard is a Windows security program which you can use to restrict access to files, folders, and other computer resources. If you share your computer with your business colleagues, family, or roommates, you can use Folder Guard to stop other users from opening your personal files, or even completely hide your documents until a valid password is entered. You can protect sensitive system files from modification or destruction, disable access to the floppy, CD-ROM, and other removable drives, restrict access to Control Panel, Start Menu, applications, and more. Windows Vista or XP allows you to use its built-in security to control access to data stored on the NTFS volumes. With Folder Guard you can secure files and folders on both the NTFS and FAT/FAT32 drives, with a much greater flexibility: you can hide some files and keep other files in the same folder visible, set up the access rights using wildcards, or make files accessible to only some programs that you select. Folder Guard protects your documents by intercepting requests from other programs to work with files; your data is not modified in any way. When Folder Guard hides a folder, the folder-s contents becomes invisible to all applications including Windows programs like Explorer, applications like Office, and even MS-DOS programs. You can require password access to the protected folders to keep away unauthorized visitors. On a user-by-user basis, you can allow or deny access to the files and folders of your choice, as well as to the removable drives, Start Menu and Control Panel. You can configure the protection so that users would not be able to download programs from the Internet or install them from the CD-ROM without your permission.

Ties in great with Windows Explorer Easy to use and navigate.
Cons
Takes too long to get support. Expensive tech support via telephone. $99.00 per hour for telephone support. Home (personal) version doesn't allow for the use of filters, only the pro version allows the use of filters.

Pros
This tool is very simple to install. It takes only 4-5 steps for installing. If you have locked any folder then it will hide from others until you unlock. It works from anywhere in your system.

This security tool is little costly for home users.

FOLDER GUARD IS THE BEST SOFTWARE FOR SECURITY OF THE PERSONAL DATA.ALTHOUGH I AM USING THE TRIAL VERSION BUT I FIND IT ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SIMILAR PRODUCTS WHICH ARE AVAILABLE. THIS IS THE SOFTWARE THAT I CAN RELY UPON. 1.VERY EASY TO USE. I RATE IT AS 5 STARS.***** 2.NEEDS LESS SPACE.RATE IT AS 5 STARS ***** 3.LEAST BULKY TO START i.e.STARTS QUICKLY. They have hit the mark on this program. It is by far the best folder security I have ever tried and I have tried many.

There are no dislikes, and I have found no bugs, runs clean and concise. If you need a security program that protects...I would seriously recommend this program. I will re-iterate, there is no need to hack it if you want to help out in some small way. Go to their site and check it out!

I have used the trial version of the "folder guard" and find it very useful. Its a very compact yet so powerful software. does not take up your computer's memory, very light.

Pros
Great, easy to use, installing and configuring is a breeze. Works seamlessly in my overloaded system. I use it to segregate development software under test. All in all, this software is compact, operating efficiently,and getting out of the way.

I just found Folder Guard, I needed it a few years ago... My bad!

I would recommend this product to anyone needing to protect files, it's efficient and easy to install and maintain. Support, if needed, seems to be quick and efficient.

A program to hide your special files, folders or partitions. The only program that can help you in this way is Folder Guard. It´s easy to use, it helps you with wizards to get - SECURITY! Look at this program! Once proved you´ll never miss it!!!

there´s nothing to criticize-I only wished to get a german version!

I proved the program in trial version - and at the first time, i could use it also as a German user - the wizards give you help in all situations. Very excellent!

Pros
Easy to setup, Master Password , Detailed interface with easy understanding and updated regularly. Best of all supports 64 bit systems. Startup and safe mode protection. Can be used to protect external drives(HDD,Flash etc)

secured folder wont display untill you unlock it from within folder gaurd, which is good as it becomes hidden but i think they can change/work on that . Maybee it is only me who has this issue but i never bothered with this as its amazing anyways.

I never really write reviews but came to a point where i thought i would , as this program does what it says and its not that expensive compared to other similar products. I would definately recommend it and assure you thats you wont go to any other once you get FG 8.2 or up. My family memebers who use my pc cant see my secured folders or access them which works very well for me. Thats what i bught it back then for and it has never let me down
