Get alerts with sound signal when you accidentally activate the Num Lock and Caps Lock key.

FirstCap is a small and very handy program that reliably warns keyboard users if they accidentally activate the Caps Lock or Num Lock key. In such a case, the user is alerted by a sound signal. The program contains a sophisticated key pression intercept engine and is able to help users with many useful features.

It can disable Caps Lock/Num Lock or Insert keyboard functions, turn off Caps Lock status as a consequence of various keystroke combinations and customize the status of the Caps Lock and Num Lock in connection with specific programs. FirstCap was developed mainly for Word Processing and similar programs. If you don't see the utility of this program probably don't need it.

Pros
configurable audio indicators for turning CAPS LOCK on and off. specifying .wav files (hi for on, lo for off) work great
Cons
the built in sounds don't seem to work - have to use .wav files but not too inconvenient. it would be nice if NUMLOCK on and off could be assigned different wavs ~ it only allows 1 wav file for key press

this one is great! i can tell if i've turned caps lock on or off WHEN I PRESS THE KEY with no annoying flash-on-the-screen display. love it!

Once you grasp its potential (by installing it and experimenting a little with its options), you will NEVER want to live without it (or something like it) again!!
Cons
My first impression was that its options might seem to be a little limited, and that it might not seem to be the most polished of software products!!--but I am glad I gave it a chance!!
Summary
You could NEVER appreciate the value of this little gem, unless you had a problem like mine to be solved. I have been into PC's for over 11 years now, and without a doubt, my MOST FREQUENT cause of PC Profanity has been my own careless, forgetful handling of the "CAPS-LOCK" key!!! Please don't mis-understand me. I am not a cursing man (although, many years ago, I used to be, but am no longer, by the Grace of God!!). Nonetheless, in my 11 years of PC involvement, in everything from applications software, word processing, hardware configuring and updating inside the computer, etc., I have had plenty of opportunity to become frustrated at my OWN ineptitude, as well as that of those who design hardware and software for human use!!--yes, PLENTY of opportunities!!! Yet, what I said above about the MOST FREQUENT offender STILL HOLDS TRUE!! After 11 years of time-wasting accidents involving the "CAPS-LOCK" key, I have FINALLY decided to LIGHT A CANDLE, rather than to continue cursing the darkness!! And, you know, I believe CNET was probably around some 11 years ago, and the internet certainly was (although in much less sophisticated form)---It is likely I could have downloaded something like this THEN, instead of spending so many years being stumbled by this problem!! (BETTER LATE THAN NEVER??)---but, like most of us, I seem to be ALWAYS too busy to "stop and smell the roses" in life, that is, taking the time to do those "little" things that can mean so much!!! I notice that a lot of programs like this tout putting a visible indicator in the systems tray (or perhaps somewhere else on the desktop)---and that's fine, too!!---but I knew that, for myself, it would take A SOUND (or SOUNDS) to get my attention in time to prevent a major incident with the "CAPS-LOCK" key!!!--and it does just that!! FINALLY, the proof, they say, "is in the pudding"----in writing this 2496-character review, this little product has already "saved" me, at least 3 separate times, from entering in to the behavior of a past life that I prefer to keep buried in forgetfulness!!!
