This freeware application accepts voice commands to surf the Web, but consistency isn't a strong point. FireFly Voice Command Browser requires a massive 54MB of space. Its chrome UI looks nice, but unfortunately the small window can't be resized. Instead, you'll have to use the scroll bars just to read the text on Web pages.

The browser isn't completely voice-activated. You still use navigational buttons to launch typed URLs, refresh pages, and navigate. Entering addresses still forced us to type the entire request command (http://www). We were disappointed that FireFly Voice Command Browser's display engine couldn't open many pages. As with any voice recognition software, precise pronunciation is a key. Some of the predefined voice commands worked, but most did not. The utility doesn't include tuning to fit the program to your voice.

Navigation worked fine, but all the site names listed on the command list failed to load. Strangely enough, reopening the provided command list produced runtime errors that shut down the program. This utility hasn't been updated since its release, and there are now numerous voice-activated programs available. Although it worked in a few instances, FireFly Voice Commands Browser needs to repair some kinks.

Publisher's description

From Coyote Computer :

The FireFly Voice Command Browser combines the exciting technology of speech recognition with the Internet. FireFly VCB allows spoken commands for basic navigation such as: forward, back, refresh. FireFly also permits the use of keyword searches on search engines. The browser is category based which narrows the voice commands to a recognizable list. Manual surfing and toggling of the speech recognition and text to speech features is also included.
