Publisher's Description
From Tom Ehlers:
Finder's Friend is a script that allows users to quit and/or restart the Finder, which might improve a Mac's speed and/or fix minor temporary memory problems. Quitting all open applications automatically brings back the Finder. This shareware is fully functional, and this version adds better support for Mac OS 9 and fixes bugs.

"Works well and it's easy"
Version: Finder's Friend 1.5.1
Summary
I like to use this when I am surfing the web and have many windows open or I am downloading. It is easy and fast.
I don't have any hard data on how effective it is but it seems to make things go a bit smoother. -
"works well in quit finder mode"
Version: Finder's Friend 1.5.1
Summary
But I have noticed that it only works on my machine (G3 OS 8.6) by quitting the finder with this software for longer than is allowed for a restart. In other words I keep a tiny application running (of a few k), quit the finder, then quit the app, and presto I get the largest unused block of RAM back up. I would say that it takes my machine longer than this software allows using the restart to accomplish this and this is why I need to use the quit option. But the restart option is more convenient. Is there some way that the restart could delay the finder's return? (By the way, repeated restarts as recommended do not accomplish the task). I cannot find any address for the author who welcomes a line but forgets to put in a contact address. Can anyone help here?
