    "Love this site!"

    October 7, 2013  |   By KaraBaker

    Version: FileMail

    Pros

Free, easy, fast, don't have to sign up

    Cons

    Nothing, love it!

    Summary

I really like using http://www.filemail.com to send large files. The reason that I use this website instead of other file-sharing websites is because it's free and you don't even have to sign up to use it, so that makes it really fast and easy. I make a lot of videos, and sometimes they're small enough so that I can just email the large files, but they're usually too large to send to my friends over email, so I use this website a lot. It's fantastic. I've never had a problem with it, and I'd recommend it to anyone needing to transfer big files!

    "Filemail.com - spot on service!"

    August 30, 2012  |   By wowiamspecial

    Version: FileMail

    Pros

    - Super easy
    - Reliable
    - Low cost
    - Good tracking (who downloads what!)

    Cons

Yet to find anything to complain about...

    Summary

Crisis situations are a common thing in a fast paced environment like mine. Raw materials arriving late, wrong encoding, reserved air time approaching - I have to face those things basically every day, and I know my ways around them. But last week I faced yet another crunch, which could have turned into nightmare if not solved within minutes.

So we have a customer in Australia. Nice guys, they delivered a raw video on time, perfect client. I did my job, applied all the effects, and just had to send them the finished file by evening of their local time. They had provided me with their FTP access details a few days earlier, so no issues expected. I logged into their FTP and... it didn't work. Few more tries - no success. I gave them a call: "guys, there was probably some typo in the user/pass combination to your server, I can't log in". They checked, I had the right combination. Something was wrong. They asked their local IT support, and minor glitch became a serious problem. To cut the long story short: because of some procedures and formalities, there was no way I was getting access to their server any sooner than in about a week. So the FTP was not an option any more, they had to have the file in a few hours at most.

I switched to crisis mode and ran through my options: courier services wouldn't make it with the CD to the other side of the world in my time frame. Email? No way, the file was too big. Other FTPs? My customer would again have to go through lengthy paperwork to gain access. Dead end was approaching fast.

I looked at the web, 1st few search results gave little hope. Then, Filemail appeared. I've never heard of it, but it looked promising. I quickly filled in a form resembling online email client, attached the file, and clicked "send". The upload took a while, the video size was way beyond of what Gmail could swallow. But when it was finished, I immediately received a confirmation email saying that the file had been sent. But it gets better, a few seconds later I received a call from the customer: "Hey, we got your email, we're downloading the file already!" Half of an hour later they've had it. Big, BIG relief.

Just why haven't I heard of Filemail earlier? This is exactly what I needed a long time ago. No more FTPs, accounts, firewall issues or time consuming formalities. Just fill the form, attach the file, and my customers get the download link they need in no time. It is not the 1st time when simple solution solves a complex problem, but one might think: why hasn't anyone thought of something like Filemail earlier? Fortunately, Filemail exists and I already bought my Premium account there. People may still use their ancient legacy solutions if they want to, but Filemail gets my money, because I'm not really willing to spend time on doing things the hard way anymore. Again, Filemail, big, BIG thumbs up!

"I tried it and it works"

    April 15, 2010  |   By howardferns

    Version: FileMail

    Pros

Simple, effective and free [for occasional use]

    Cons

Only 6 files maximum can be sent at time with free version - no good if you want to send someone a number of photos. Recipient only has 3 days to download them before they're removed from the system - what if they don't look at their mail in time?

    Summary

Free version is good for some things, like a few big files, but not for others, like my example above, of a lot of photos.

    Updated on Nov 19, 2010

Yes, "fnxman", I'm afraid there are. Several of my contacts regularly take 7 to 10 days to respond, it is clear to me they only look at their email about once a week.

"I have never had a better file-sending experience!"

    September 15, 2008  |   By webtechlover

    Version: FileMail

    Pros

Best free service, cheapest Premium service and a professional Corporate plan. Allows 2 GB files with no registration required, image gallery/slideshow, almost ad-free and HIGH-speed upload/download!

This web service has really killed their competitors. In my years of active website reviewing, I have never been more stunned by the the complete experience offered at Filemail, both as a sender and a receiver!

    Cons

I would never expected more from an online service. If I was to be picky, I would really like to see "live video" without download the video files, that had been awesome!!
