Publisher's Description
From Sherrod Computers:
File Renamer Basic is a powerful and yet easy to use program that allows the user to rename files, folders, and MP3 files with ease. It has a filename filter so you can easily narrow down your search to only a specific type of file or filename to work with. You can also remove x number of characters starting from x character and even find and replace text. In addition to its renaming capabilities, it also has a built-in ID3v1 and ID3v2 tag editor.
What's new in this version: Version 6.3 fixed the main issue with the EXIF module.

"It dose a good job renaming your files"
Version: File Renamer Basic 6.3
Pros
It dose a good job renaming your files
Cons
One problem I found with it is that if you have it to rename your files and to have it put them in another folder you suggest it also renames your files in your source folder and you can't revert them back. If you are going to use this program I suggest making copies of all your files before renaming them.
Summary
It isn't worth it

"Worked Great For Me!"
Version: File Renamer Basic 6.3
Pros
Easy to use
Renames with lightening speed
Can rename several files at onceCons
None at this time
Summary
I've only used it to rename the extension in order to make ring tones for my cell phone. The instructions that I have on how to make the ring tones referred me to FileRenamer and warned that my computer would go crazy but it would be ok. But everything went smooth as silk and it went great.

"For my particular needs, it does the job just fine."
Version: File Renamer Basic 6.3
Pros
Works with large number of files, without complaining.
Cons
Interface isn't as intuitive as I expected it to be.
Summary
While I thought the interface could have been more intuitive, I can't complain too much. The number of things you can do with this tool is impressive, and probably contributes to the complicated interface.

"Great for renaming large numbers of files"
Version: File Renamer Basic 6.3
Pros
Lots of options for renaming large numbers of files at a time with prefix, suffix, and unique identifiers
Find and replace option lets you remove certain text strings and replace them with othersCons
I'd really like the ability to use wildcards in the "find and replace" function. Like telling it to find "(####)" would tell it to look for 4 digits within parenthesis.

"6.3 does not seem as friendly as the earlier versions."
Version: File Renamer Basic 6.3
Pros
Allows almost all the useful edit procedures.
Cons
Drop down lists are always eaier to use than rows of icons.
Summary
Go back to the more functional and less 'flashy' interface.

Great tool to have in your tool belt!

"Phishing Scam?"
Version: File Renamer Basic 6.3
Pros
does what it says
Cons
Phishing Scam?
Summary
Installed and then went with "open File Renamer." Instead of opening, it opened opened a dialog box that was trying to (re)install a copy of my TurboTax 2006 (why 2006, I don't know). Immediately hit cancel, then it started to install a subprogram of TurboTax called "It's deductible." Canceled out of that too, then File Renamer opened. Very weird and disturbing. Checked my CD drive to see if maybe there was a copy of the old TurboTax CD in there. Drive was empty. Did a quick Malwarebytes scan and nothing turned up. Rebooted and scanned again, nothing still. Opened File Renamer and the same thing happened. ***?!?! Figured damage was done, so tried using the program to see if it would do anything else weird. Did the job, although I think the interface is clunky and not intuitive enough.
