"Does what it says on the tin, looks good, easy."
Version: Family Tree Genius 1.01
Pros
- It looks great, shiny and "modern" looking interface
- Simple, easy to add new dataCons
- Lacks some of the extremely detailed features of programs such as Legacy.
Summary
Family Tree Genius did what I wanted, which was to easily create an accurate, extremely well presented family tree. The way relationships between family members are managed is uncomplicated - I didn't get too bogged down.
However, when I needed to add specialist information, there was normally a way to include it.
Recommended for novices and intermediate users, who just want to create a professional looking family tree. -

Family Tree Genius is heavily based on a free (as in cost) open source project.
There are a significant number of bugs and stability issues which make the program frustrating to use.
In summary if you are willing to spend $30 you could purchase a product with far more extensive features and greater compatibility with other genealogy applications.
