Hard drives and CD-ROMs are cheap, so why bother simulating them with software? Extra Drive Creator Pro's powerful utility suite provides five good answers. Crypted Drive supplies a handy 256-bit encrypted data vault. Virtual CD-ROM creates ISO disk images and mounts them as drives--great for working with multiple programs that require an inserted CD. RAM Drive turns excess memory into an ultrafast storage unit. The other two utilities transform files or folders into drives so they're easily accessible through Windows Explorer or any file dialog. No matter which options you choose, Windows and your applications see virtual drives the same way they do real ones. We didn't notice any slowdowns or stability problems. The only flaw is that you need to reboot after mounting a RAM drive. Robust and easy to configure, Extra Drive Creator Professional is a great add-on for beginners and power users alike.Publisher's description

Version: Extra Drive Creator Professional 7.3
"Great for CD, though not intuitive, not useful for DVD"
Pros: Worked beautifully for creating a virtual drive from which I could install my CD iso file
Cons: Controls not intuitive. No DVD capability (or else I couldn't find it). Readme file poorly written by non-English speaker and lacks instructions.
Short-cut keys (ctrl+1, ctrl+2, etc) under Tools do not work.Summary: The file downloaded and installed quickly. Although it took me "only" 5 minutes to figure out how to create a drive to run the iso file on my hard disk, I imagine that many people would give up before they figured it out.
