CNET Editors' review
This simple application lets you easily change the extension of a single file or multiple files within a folder, though it offers little else in the way of features or capabilities. Extension Changer offers two ways to change file extensions. Open the program and drag and drop files or folders into a small inset box under the Main tab, fill in the new extension, and press Change. The easier method is to right-click on files and folders and select Edit the extension. Your document or folder is already displayed and you need only type the new extension. Changes were immediately applied. Desktop and Start menu shortcuts aren't automatically added, but since the program is so easily available when it's needed, this isn't a problem. A simple tool is offered to search for more information on extensions. This utility is easy to use, does exactly what it says, and is offered free of charge.Publisher's Description

"Great little program that met my needs."
Version: Extension Changer 0.5 build 186
Pros
I found this simple to install and use. I needed to change the file extension on multiple pictures, from jpeg to jpg and just by blocking and dragging multiple pictures to the '.exe' program, I had the job done. Previously I changed each picture manually. What a drag.
Cons
None that I found.
Summary
Great program if you need to simplify modifying the extensions on multiple files.

"Program does what it said it will do."
Version: Extension Changer 0.5 build 186
Pros
Quick and simple program
Cons
Closes after use
Summary
I used it to change files that were given to me with an erroneous extension. Changed ".pdf.pdffile" to ".pdf". I did not have to input anything and it just erased the ".pdffile".
Only problem is that I had to use it 100 times (files in different folders downloaded from an FTP site) and had to open it 100 times... Stay open! -
"DAMN! That hit the spot!"
Version: Extension Changer 0.5 build 186
Pros
Light weight. Does just what it's made to do. Cuts the time of renaming a big handful of extensions down to 5%. Great for converting an html website to php for instance.
Cons
No undo feature (that'd surely be very difficult to pull off though).

"DONT DOWNLOAD- ITS INFECTED WITH A HIGH RISK TROGAN!!!"
Version: Extension Changer 0.5 build 186
Pros
No pros at all. This software is junk and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. (Read the summary to see why this program is garbage.)
Cons
I scanned the installer for this program before I installed it and it found a high risk trogan downloader. For those who dont know what a trogan is, a trogan downloads viruses on to your computer.
Summary
There is acutally a simple way to change the extension of a file by switching a setting in the control panal. Just open the setting that says "Folder options" and click on the "View" tab. Then uncheck the box that says "Hide extensions for known file types" and press apply. Now, there should be a file extension next to every file on your computer and you can change it by using the rename option. I hope that this helps anyone who wants to change the file extension of a file. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to me.
Yeah... my bad. I wrote this review a long time ago before I knew about false positives. Still, I'm leaving it at one star because it's useless. Anyone can change a file extension with a quick change of a setting in the control panel. I left detailed instructions on how to do this in my summary. Also, I didn't know that it can change multiple extensions before, but... I still think it's kind of useless.

"Brilliant ! Easy to use and straightforward."
Version: Extension Changer 0.5 build 186
Pros
Small on screen when opened and it closes automatically when the job is done.
Easy to use- open files- drag the file you want to change extension into the little box- type in the desired format than click 'change'.Cons
None at the moment.
Summary
Changes file with two extensions i.e- filename.avi.html to one extension filename.avi.
PLEASE NOTE- it does not CONVERT formats, it only removes an extension. Provided the existing file already exist in the original file than your media player should not have any problem running it. -
"perfect program!"

Summary

"It just changed it."
Version: Extension Changer 0.5 build 186
Pros
It could change it. (: ?
Cons
Well, it just changes it, and that's it.. Nothing else happens, it can't open the file anywhere else.. It's like it only changed the name!
Summary
Well, everything in the cons is said.. It didn't help me much, I changed from extension file .006 [Because I tried EVERYTHING, and nothing would open that file, but I thought this would work..] to AVI. Then from AVI to MP4. It didn't work on Windows Media Player either, and when I pressed web help, it was the exact same format when I got it. C00D1199, or extension file .006!
I hope that explains it.. And if anyone knows how to open extension file .006! Please, please help! I'm begging you, I've tried EVERYTHING! Nothing works! -
