CNET Editors' review
Encrypting your sensitive documents is a great way to protect against the wandering virtual eyes of Internet hackers. EncyptOnClick offers a simple way to turn away predators.
This freeware program's interface cuts right to the basics of encryption and eliminates any guesswork. A simple box offers a choice between encrypting files and folders and another offers a chance to decrypt folders and files. Encryption is a snap. Users just click on the box and find the folder or file they wish to secure by searching through a file tree. Once chosen the program asks for a password and asks users to re-enter the password. Decrypting follows the same path and is just as simple.
EncryptOnClick quickly and easily locked our files from anyone without the password, but the program wasn't without its faults. The biggest trouble spot was the fact that once the password is entered and the file is decrypted, it remains open permanently. This means users must physically find the file and set the password each time it is opened. Other downloads keep the file encrypted until told otherwise. Another area where this program didn't meet the competition is its algorithm for encryption. More-advanced downloads offer a choice for users who wish to select the level of complexity their program is encrypted.
However, if these complaints don't concern you, or you really want to keep things simple, EncryptOnClick is easy to use and can help keep your files safe.
Publisher's Description
From 2BrightSparks:
EncryptOnClick is a very simple to use program that lets you securely encrypt and decrypt files. EncryptOnClick is like hiring your own highly experienced data security guard who ensures the files you want to keep safe and out of view from others stay that way. The program is very simple to use and features military grade 256-bit AES encryption that is fully compatible with WinZip 9. Not only are your files encrypted, but they are also compressed. This reduces the size of the file, which is very useful if you are emailing and transmitting your encrypted files. The encrypted files can also be decrypted with WinZip 9. A comprehensive help file is included, although you won't need to read it.
What's new in this version: Version 1.4.0.4 can select multiple files to encrypt and no longer uses 3rd party controls for Unicode.

"Not too swift"
Version: EncryptOnClick 1.4.0.4
Pros
The author says: EncryptOnClick is like hiring your own highly experienced data security guard. I'd have to agree, with some reservations.
Cons
EncryptOnClick is like hiring your own highly experienced data security guard
I'd agree, but a guard you have tell in detail each time what to do. TEDIOUS. For a company that invented the HashOnEncrypt interface, this program is pathetic. Why not use the HOE interface again and save the tedium...Summary
Tedious interface. Lots of work between deciding to encrypt and getting it done.
