Publisher's Description
From Nathan Sheldon:
Encrypt This is a Universal Binary AppleScript application for Mac OS X that takes all the files and folders you drag onto the Encrypt This icon and creates an AES 128-bit encrypted .dmg disk image file which contains those files and folders. You are prompted for a pass-phrase upon dropping files onto the Encrypt This icon. That same pass-phrase must be used to access the disk image in the future.
What's new in this version: Disk images created with Encrypt This are now read/write instead of read-only compressed. Sped up execution time by allowing the secure deletion of the temporary files Encrypt This creates during processing to run in the background after Encrypt This has finished instead of Encrypt This waiting for that process to finish, giving the impression that it had hung after creating large (50+ MB) disk images. Tested under Mac OS X 10.7 Intel, but should continue to work from 10.3.9+ (Intel/PPC).

"Very Basic, but does the job, easy and free."
Version: Encrypt This 1.01
Pros
Simple, small file, quick, free, seems to get the job done.
128 bit should be good for casual users.Cons
A little too simple - not sure what to do at first.
No password hint feature.
Very few features. Not a con, but if you need features and options, look elsewhere.Summary
Overall, I gotta say it was just what I was looking for. But it might not be what everyone is looking for.
I just had some private files I wanted to encrypt. Not for my business or anything, just some stuff I don't want a casual snoop to be able to see. 128bit encryption seems good enough for me. Not my entire drive like with filevault.
This software is very simple - you just drag the file you want to encrypt onto the application's icon, a window pops up, you think of a password, wait a few seconds and right there in the same folder as the original folder there is an encrypted disk image. Sure you could do this yourself using disk utility or something but encrypt this makes it so simple.
The one feature I really wish it had was a password reminder.
Also it might be nice to be able to change the filename of the encrypted file -- but I guess you could just make a new folder or duplicate file before encrypting.
I gave it 3 stars -- for me it's worth 4 because it does just what I need, but it's not a 4 star product for everyone. Plus I've only used it a short while. -

Have only used this once, but it worked great. Yes, Disk Utility can do the same thing, but this is faster and easier. -
"EncryptThis worked on USB Flash Drive when Disc..."
Version: Encrypt This 1.0
Summary
...Utility (MAC OS 10.3.9) didn't
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I used this EncryptThis to creat a password protected disc image to store on the key fob USB Flash Drivee I carry with me. Now if I lose my keys whoever finds them won't have my address, which is no my resume. Important protection so they won't just come to my house and walk right in. I tried to create the same kind of disc image using on the USB Flash Drive and was unable to do so using Disc Utility (10.3.9). To use Disc Utility I had to create the disc image from a folder on my hard drive, not the USB Flash Drive, and then drag it over. Not a huge savings in time, but still worthwhile... and free!
