• Unable to backup

  Pros

  Offered space management feature in the Free Edition, which is my primary reason to switch from another backup software.

  Cons

  Can not backup after I finished building a plan.

  Summary

  Useless. After I setup a System Backup plan, but it always failed with error code 0x305122EA: =============== An error occurred, failed to backup. Could not backup some volumes in the source, you can restart system and try again. =============== I rebooted the machine, but the error is still there. NO support option for Free version, even if I got a bug like this. NO useful info for this problem in the Knowledge Base of EaseUs website. The only thing I found is the Error Code List, which lists only the code and error text just like I posted above.

  It crashes a lot. No successful back up on my win7 computer.

  Considering all the other bad comments, I am surprised it hasn't been fixed.

• Dangerous restore procedure

  It handles GPT and it is ok for file and partition restore.

  Cons

  This is really bad, it will restore a drive but only wants your system drive. It requests a reboot but fails to warn you what its about to do or the target. Then it changes the boot sequence to what appears to be Linux cut-down. Boots very slowly and starts the process of clearing the system drive, even if you picked another drive. Repartitions the system drive and the rest. If you weren't planning this and didn't have a current backup you in strife.

  Major design floor in disk restore area.

• Misleading advertising

  If you pay for an upgrade, do not automatically believe the description of the product they give: For me, the item did not meet the description. The email offer they sent sent me said:"Fast and easy recovery to get everything recovered fast when disasters occur.Price: $14.50 Buy NowGet lifetime free upgrade service". After purchasing, I discovered that this does not include the lifetime upgrade. I requested they change the wording in the email offer to something like:"Lifetime free upgrade service also available for $47" to prevent this confusion. I requested a refund. They refused, saying that the "item was shipped".

  Summary

  Before making a purchase, contact their customer support to confirm what you are paying for because the advertising is misleading. If I can't trust the information they give before purchasing, I am wondering how I can trust that the product will protect my valuable data...

• Use the free version but forget about the "upgrades"

  Sometimes backs up data successfully.

  Cons

  Buggy. Erratic. Unreliable. Exceedingly slow (even without compression). Upgrade supposedly gets you more speed (no proof of this from my experience) and support (which in reality is in the form of chat with somebody in China after 9:00 PM EST). "30-day money-back guarantee" is a stretch. You'll only get that after hours of proving that the software doesn't do what it is described as doing by the publisher.

  Summary

  If you're OK with a hit-and-miss proprietary back-up solution, go for it, but don't waste any money on "upgrades".

• Doesn't restore GPT drives on UEFI systems

  Nice GUI. That's about it.

  Cons

  On a UEFI boot system running Win 10 on a GPT disk, it creates an image ok but can't restore to a blank new hard drive. Scenario: say your primary hard drive failed and you replaced it with a new one. Using the recovery boot disc to restore the image will fail because it won't recognize the new disk. And if it does recognize the disk, it will consider it an MBR disk and fail with an error message that the destination drive can't be found. You can force it to restore the image but it won't automatically convert the disk to GPT so the system will not boot. Be careful that you not overwrite the USB hard drive that contains your backup image because it may show up as a potential destination and you could lose all your data. This GPT/MBR problem has existed since version 8.0 and I have gone back and forth with their tech support many times and they just don't get it.

  Stay away from this product until they fix it.

• So Slow I Couldn't Stand It

  Pros

  It Is Easy to Use and set up a daily, weekly or whatever back you want. It is easy to pick the files you want to backup and it has a lot of features that I didn't try.

  Cons

  When I first installed the program it seemed to work pretty good and I was backing up about 3.0 GB using a USB 3.0 Seagate ext. HDD. It took about 8 minutes to do my daily backup.But then it started to have incidents of crashing and re-installations of the program where required. Then the backups started getting slower and slower until they taking over an hour and many times the backup was not complete, it might on back up a few MB then stop. Using the free version you get no tech support so I bought the Home version just to get some help. I was an idiot as I didn't realize they have a 30-day free trial. But the Support is terrible. They have chat and email support but if you follow the links you seem to always end up on a page where they want to sell you something. I have removed the program from my computer and I am doing my backups manually in Windows Explorer with copy/paste. The same backup that was taking EaseUS over an hour I can do in less than a minute manually.

  Summary

  I have tried a lot of backup software and none have worked, including the stuff that comes with Win 10. I recommend a simple copy/paste in Windows Explorer. EaseUS is hard to get a refund from, so be careful if you decide to buy.from them on trial basis.

  Free software worked fine but then....

  I purchased a license but it wouldn't work with free software. Told to uninstall and install again. Uninstalled but when I tried to install it told me the old software hadn't uninstalled correctly. Asked again what to do seller told me to use a tool they provide to clean registry. Tried using it but MS said their certificate wasn't valid. Gave up and asked for my money back per their 30 day guarantee and was told I didn't qualify. I had purchased the license two days ago so why didn't I qualify? They told me they could fix the problem if I gave them access to my computer on line.

  Summary

  I'm not giving them access to my computer and nor do I think I have to. They did not supply me with working software and I want my money back it's that simple. Do not trust these guys, they'll rip you off.

  Pros

  the seduction of the lowered (even sale price) Purchased EaseUs Todo PC Transprofessional 8.6 sale went quick registration/activation link sent rapidly following what i could glean from their evasive description, seemed easy enough to follow.

  Cons

  I prepared for this transfer as i have never prepared before, as i so wanted this to go smoothly and i was shelving out $49.95 on sale!! Everything was printed out and ready to be followed. I had been working all day cleaning up drives making backups on at least 3 different external hard drives. So I finally get everything set up, and try to activate the software, and the system wouldnt even let me in despite several other attempts using a different approach. So i call customer support in either Pakistan or India, and the service rep didnt even try to troubleshoot the problem but instead suggested i send my report via email to their technical support. I told him i tried that and the link for that goes nowhere. So sounding like a beaten man he tells me about the possible two step process for a refund. I was so fired up that i said no I want the refund processed now. He did but then made it very clear that i might have to ask more than twice to recieve it!! unbelieveable.

  Summary

  I researched everything trying to find the compromise between something that looked like it would work and keeping costs down. I was not only disappointed but angry at discovering the uselessnes of the product and service support (24/7) btw when i needed it the most. Pissed off that because i have to get the job done quickly i was forced to cave and purchase a product for twice the amount of $, Not even sure that this one will be so easy as there is a 37 page owner's manual to prepare and guide the user through the transfer process. UGH there has got to be an easier, simpler and less expensive, less anxiety and frustrating way to tackle this task!! I am not an illiterate but all of this is unfamiliar territory. I am sure that there are a whole lot of people similar to me out there.
