If you just want to capture a still from a movie, look no further than EZV Video Capture. Its professional-looking, media-player interface makes it easy to jump to the desired shot and save it in BMP, JPEG, GIF, or TGA format. All that's missing is the ability to automatically capture several frames in a row. A basic picture-editing tool lets you resize, rotate, correct brightness and contrast, and convert to grayscale without quitting the program. We would have liked to see an internal feature for setting an image as wallpaper. However, our only real quibble is with the stingy seven-day trial period. Even with that, the $14.95 price of the registered version is reasonable. For this specialized purpose, EZV Video Capture is a great choice.

EZV Video Capture captures video frames to 24-bit graphics. The program supports MPEG, MPA, MOV, AVI, DivX, and WMV files and saves them as files or prints. VCR-style buttons allow you to move one frame at a time, forward or backward. You can even download videos directly into the program for frame capturing. Just enter the URL and EZV will run the video. Tools include Auto Rewind, Loop, Seek Start, and Seek End, and you can capture directly from videos or graphics, select the start and end points, remove the progress bar and replace it with a slider, and use the AutoName feature. Capture formats include BMP, JPEG, GIF, and TGA.

Version 3.0 adds the Resize feature, editing tools for captured frames, and more print features.

Version: EZV Video Capture 3.0

"Powerful, intuitive, foolproof"

Pros: EZV does exactly what it says it will. The learning curve was zero. I had it functioning perfectly immediately and the interface is totally intuitive. The price is completely reasonable. Paying for it, downloading it and installing was flawless. Thanks Brandyware.

Version: EZV Video Capture 3.0

"good program"

Pros: works realy good. has a nice interface. I use it to review recorded video from my DVR security cameras. has selection to play at half speed. I will purchase this program.

Cons: doesnt do multiple frames, only one at a time.

"It does what it says."

Pros: I does what it says it will do. It captured all the frames I wanted. Allowed me to resize and apply brightness and contrast to the frames I liked.

"Cheap, Working Product"

Summary: This product is very easy to use, for beginners. $15 is a very fair price for this software, if you want to save money.

Version: EZV Video Capture 3.0

"Will not capture from a DVD."

Pros: It is free to try.

Cons: I was looking for programs that would capture a frame from a DVD to be used as a cover for the DVD disk and box label. Turns out it will not capture from a DVD. Company says that you first need to import into your computer. Try Roxio or Nero.
