CNET Editors' review
In spite of a few flaws, this program quickly locates duplicate images that may be hiding on your computer. The application s installer file seems overly large for no real reason, especially considering the interface s appearance is as bland as can be. Still, we re glad to say Duplicate Image Finder walks you through the entire process of finding duplicate pictures. First, you choose which drive you d like to scan, and the program will quickly locate all images. Duplicate Image Finder next checks all files and alerts you to ones that may be corrupt. This tool showed excellent speed, as it indexed about 4,000 shots in only a few minutes. Next, you specify the similarity percentage and the number of maximum duplicates to be detected, then let the program do its thing. True to form, the utility accurately and rapidly found duplicate files. You can delete images from directly within the program, but since it displays the file path of the space hogs, you also can manually locate them. Anyone with a huge library of photos who wants to free up hard drive space should give this app serious consideration.Publisher's Description
From Runningman Software:
Duplicate Image Finder finds duplicate images on your computer. DIF compares images like you do: it compares 'what they look like' on the screen. DIF can match up resized images, rotated images, images with different filenames, or images in a different file format. DIF compares JPEG, BMP (bitmap), and GIF files.

"Good Detection Algorithm"
Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros
Easily-adjustable matching threshold
Few false matches
Free version isn't crippledCons
Not the most elegant interface, though it is intuitive to use
Not instantaneous--maybe that's impossible. Took 20 mins to analyze 3000 images on a dual core machine with 4GB RAM with Win7-64Summary
Worked well for my needs. Maybe other programs work better, but this is a good place to start. I would download it again.

"Stopped working after analyzing 38000 of 100000 images"
Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros
Did what it said until it got to 38,000. Now it hangs.
Cons
Hangs after analyzing 38,000 of 100,000 images in my collection
Summary
It seems like many people are having the same problem but at different numbers of files analyzed. I really wish this program worked because I need to keep organizing my files. If anyone knows a working alternative please post a link. I am more than willing to pay.

"Does not worth a dime-not working and crashing!"
Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros
NONE extremely poor "tool"
Cons
Absolutely does not work
Summary
I can not understand why so many people downloaded this crap. I was misled by the download count, but this "tool" does not worth wasting time.

"Worked perfectly"
Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros
Worked the way it stated. No install problems, no running problems.
Cons
I guess it has TOO many screens that you need to go through before you can pick off the duplicates, but that's not much of a problem.
Summary
I had NONE of the problems that these other users are stating (meaning that something is wrong with their systems, or they didn't read something they should have). It searched through over 12k images and did it's job (only missing 1 duplicate, and picking up 1 false positive) just as it was created to do.
...You paid for a license for a software...that doesn't even work on your system?!

Cons

Summary
See all the above blocks

"It's broken"
Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros
Found a bunch of duplicates I guess?
Easy installCons
LOTS of false positives
100% comparison is a lieSummary
This program really does not work like it's supposed to. I set it to the highest exactness (images must be a 100% match) and it screwed up hardcore. It flagged about 100 separate images as duplicates of ONE image. Okay, messed up but maybe they were corrupted or something. What really sealed it for me was when it detected an image edit with text added as a duplicate of the one without text. I don't even mean PSDs or any other layered file either, they were just JPEGs. If doesn't notice black text on a white background at the highest detection setting then I don't really trust it with anything else.

Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros

Cons
program stopped working after 4666 images and no responce from support.

"Bad rating is with Runningman who sells the program."
Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros
I downloaded the free version and liked it. On April 11,2009, I bought the program.
So it is not an old purchase.Cons
My pc became unstable. Have lost my registration number so can't download it again. Have written to Runningman twice, sent proof of payment. It has been a week and they won't even answer my email. Guess I'll just give up, but won't buy it again.

"Not effective"
Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros
Nothing
Cons
It simply keeps showing the same pictures over and over again
-
"Didn't work as I thought it would."
Version: Duplicate Image Finder 1.0.20
Pros
Not much to like at this time, I will try it again...maybe
Cons
Frankly it didn't find any duplicates in over 1200 images, in one folder, I knew there were in fact several (I just looked at them in FastStone, but this software couldn't see them) the download was real slow, and the dupe search was slow and a real resource hog, nice concept though, if it only worked.
