Developer's Description

Rename multiple files by editing their file names like in a text editor.
DirEdit can be used to text-edit the filenames of a directory in Windows. The filenames become editable in a text field. This way, batch-renaming files becomes very easy, because you can copy, paste replace (parts of the) filenames. The files will only actually be renamed when the 'Rename files' button is clicked. DirEdit features Use a file filter with wildcards to select only the files in a directory that you want to rename. Replace all occurrence of a string with another string. Append a string to the beginning or end of each filename. Delete first or last n characters of each filename. The application allows copying text from other programs (such as an episode list of a TV-series) into DirEdit. Version 1.3 allows listing the names by name, extension, size or modified date; adds options for reverse sorting and case sensitive sorting; shows the original filenames in a different tab, giving more space for the editable file names. Version 1.4 allows actions sections to be hidden for a more simple user interface, and features new icons and tabs for actions.
