Publisher's Description
From Novarm:
DipTrace is an advanced PCB design software application that consists of 4 modules PCB Layout with efficient auto-router and auto-placer, schematic capture, component and pattern editors that allow you to design your own component libraries. DipTrace has a powerful automatic router, superior to many routers included in other PCB layout packages. It can route a single layer and multilayer circuit boards, and there is an option to auto route a single layer board with jumper wires, if required. DipTrace also provides you with external auto router support. Smart manual routing tools allow users to finalize the design and to get the results they want in a blink of an eye. There are number of verification features, that allows you to control accuracy of your project. DipTrace modules allow you to exchange schematics, layouts and libraries with other EDA and CAD packages. Output formats are DXF, Gerber, Drill and G-code. Standard libraries contain more than 98,000 components.

"Works very well."
Version: DipTrace 2.3
Pros
Easy to use!
Cons
None that I could find.
Summary
Very useful!

"works very well for the small boards I work on"
Version: DipTrace 2.1
Pros
I tried out about five PC CAD programs, and DipTrace worked the best for me. I don't have the time or money for a large CAD system, I just need to lay out simple 2 layer boards. DipTrace worked well, it never crashes, and never corrupts data.
Cons
I wish that when you copy and paste an object, that the program would remember the offset that you moved, and use that when you paste again. The Mac has been doing that forever, and without it, it is hard to do repeated regular spaced arrays
Summary
For the price, this is one of the best low-cost CAD packages I've tried. For the relatively simple boards I am designing, it works well.

"Pure GARBAGE"
Version: DipTrace 2.0
Pros
Well, at least its cheap.
Cons
Poor user interface, poor database management, lack of continuity in commands between program elements, poor everything. It just plain sucks. I would not bet my future on the output of this pile of CAD poop....
Summary
The user interface is crowded, the component creation tools are juvenile, the footprint tool is ridiculous, simple commands (like rotation of objects) are totally different in each tool, resolution is poor, libraries are laughable, most design elements violate IPC, the whole program is a disjointed jumble of unrelated elements that barely functions.
It is inexpensive and it shows in it poor quality... -
"EZ & Fast - Can't beat the price"
Version: DipTrace 2.0
Pros
- Intuitive:just start designing -Fast:Schematic layouts, custom components and complete PCBs in minutes.
Cons
There are minor annoyances, at times it's difficult to select traces if they are completely under components.
Summary
This software is unbelievable for free. I downloaded it to make a quick and simple PCB. Then I made a slightly more complicated PCB. Now I'm using all aspects of it, the schematic editor, component editor and of course the PCB editor.
Never once have I resorted to the help, everything is intuitive enough that it can be figured out on the fly, just start designing!
It's simple to create customer libraries so it will never be out of date. I'm pleased to report that my custom libraries were preserved when I upgraded from 1.5 to 2.0.
I've had umpteen PCB designs fabricated at a PCB shop by emailing the gerber and drill files generated by this software and haven't had any issues whatsoever from design to final product. I really can't say enough about Diptrace, try it.

"I've used lots of schematic entry and PCB programs"
Version: DipTrace 1.3
Pros
This has a very simple and easy to pick up user interface, schematic entry is quick and logical. Generating net list, BOMs and PCB is also pretty painless. This product has a reasonable price for what it gives you.
Cons
Generating new parts is not as easy as some programs. Print scaling is quirky, but manageable. PCB routing is fair, non-experience people my like it.

"I just want to test this product"
Version: DipTrace 1.3
Pros
I wonder if it is a smart capture that when you press the print screen sysrq you can select a porion of a screen and save it.
Cons
I dont like this if i dont need it
-
"DipTrace can be used in other language."
Version: DipTrace 1.23
Pros
You can translate it to your native language easyly if this heven't been done yet. You can wisit diptrace site for more information about this.

"Excellent PCB Layout Tool for the Budget Conscious"
Version: DipTrace 1.22
Pros
I purchased the Diptrace Lite version:
o Large library of component footprints
o Easy and intuitive to use
o Very good tutorial available
o Outputs Gerber files to send to your PCB fab vendor
o The price is right. Lots of capability for an inexpensive tool. A great value!
Cons
o Program sometimes crashes on my windows ME 800MHz computer (it does not crash my computer, though). It is always recoverable. I don't care because it does what I want for a good price.
