DesktopOK (64-bit) is a free compact utility that solves a familiar headache: desktop icons shifting after resolution or display changes. It enables quick save icon layouts and one-click restore icon positions, keeping work surfaces consistent across sessions. Built to be lean, it stays out of the way and prioritizes reliable layout control over extras.

For gamers who switch resolutions between titles and desktop tasks, DesktopOK (64-bit) keeps icon placement intact without added overhead. It supports portable execution, maintains multiple layout profiles, and can minimize to the tray for quick access during play sessions, ensuring a tidy desktop between matches, streams, and workloads.

Icon layouts preserved across resolutions

Beyond basic snapshots, DesktopOK (64-bit) streamlines recurring layout management. A lightweight engine captures changes with auto-save, so the latest arrangement is always on hand, while a toggle to hide/show icons automatically keeps the desktop uncluttered when focus matters. International users benefit from multilingual support. These mechanics emphasize stability and control rather than eye candy, making routine reconfiguration fast, predictable, and resilient even when displays, DPI, or virtual desktops change.

Usability stays straightforward: save, label, and switch layouts without digging through menus, and performance impact is negligible during active workloads. Pros include dependable retention across resolution shifts and unobtrusive operation; cons include limited automation beyond snapshots and no native cloud sync. For reference, power users often compare it with ReIcon, Iconoid, or Fences, yet those alternatives add complexity or cost while this tool stays focused on repeatable layout control.

Day to day, the experience is predictable: layouts can be named sensibly, restored instantly, and maintained over long sessions with little maintenance. There is no steep learning curve, but expectations should match its scope — this is a targeted utility, not a full desktop suite. Advanced scheduling, cross-device syncing, and rule-based profiles are absent, yet the tight focus reduces friction and helps keep work and play environments consistent.
