"Next to being the best Video Recorder for Desktop."
Version: Desktop Video Recorder 3.0
Pros
Simple to use interface.
Very good audio recording.
Excellent Quality video recording-given you have good compressors/codecs.
Records for hours and does NOT crash!Cons
Price= $49.99.
Summary
If you're used to having your Desktop video recording programs crashing when you try to record for over an hour, then witness the savior. Desktop Video Recorder. Probably the best Desktop Video Recording Software.
It records ,surprisingly, very good audio. And has nice options to let you set up the audio-but it's bare bones.
The video recording is what really counts in a software like this, and this doesn't disappoint. his Video Recorder does not crash when recording for over an hour. This is huge in a program like this. Have you used CamStudio? Then you know the ability to record for over 10 minutes without a program crashing is heaven.
There is almost no wait time after you record as the file is ready for you the second you press stop. But make sure you have enough space on your system, one recording I did of 59 minutes took up around 24GB of space on a 32 bit system set up. This software allows to record for hours. For those who only want to put up clips of their favorite film on YouTube this isn't that important. But for those who want the ability to record hours of Desktop activity for Tutorials, or record masterpiece films and then put it on YouTube or other website (a lot of people do that now a days in the age of easy piracy). This software will allow you to do all that. Press Record and you're off.
If you have good compressors and Codecs you can get DVD quality video. Provided of course you have a PC powerhouse that won't dip the frame rates.
Visually it's nothing too special. Simple and clean, gray and white look. It's a good thing because it's simple to navigate and find you need.
The biggest draw back is the price. At $49.99 It's pretty high, especially that apart from recording video it doesn't allow you to do anything else with it. You can't edit it with this software. With a price like that you would expect the ability to edit your videos. But what you do get is the most stable Desktop Video Recording software.
