Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot disk that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.
DBAN is a means of ensuring due diligence in computer recycling, a way of preventing identity theft if you want to sell a computer, and a good way to totally clean a Microsoft Windows installation of viruses and spyware. DBAN prevents or thoroughly hinders all known techniques of hard disk forensic analysis.

It is great for wiping any system with any problem, and writes over everything with 0's

Writing over tons of 0's obviously takes a long time so a long process will be expected, but it's well worth it

Just to biztastic who previously commented, this is a program that is intended to allow a user to wipe their computer from a flashdrive/floppy disk, and not to wipe your flash drive. If you would like to wipe your flash drive just highlight everything in it and right-click/delete it. This program is NOT a virus, and works great

It will destroy all data on a hard-disk beyond (or nearly beyond) the capabilities forensic analysis. I use Derik's Boot and Nuke when I buy used computers from thrift stores or elsewhere.
Cons
Can take several hours to a few days.
Summary
The bottom line is: If you are getting rid of, or aquiring a used computer, use DBAN. I mean, you could go for Evidence Eliminator, but you would have to pay $150 and EE is just a scam anyway. This is the real deal, just read the first review, lol.

"Very Misleading Title!!"

This title is very misleading, it says it is for use ON Usb and floppy drives, and says it is FOR floppy disks and USB. I highly require a USB nuker and thought this was it, and nuked my hard drive thinking it was nuking my USB drive.

Basically this is a virus with a friendly title

I have used the product on old computers that I use for different reasons and
am satisfied that some of the 'old' cleanups make them useful and not have to
be thrown out and become hazards in many ways.
