From i3 S.r.l.:
DSP-Quattro is an extremely powerful Audio Editor/AudioCD Mastering Application with extended real-time and off-line support of AU/VST plug-ins for MacOS X. DSP-Quattro is a highly innovative product that utilizes the latest technological advances of computer-based audio editing. comes with several professional built-in algorithms, like its state-of-art Linear Phase Sample Rate Converter, its outstanding Declicker for Audio Restoration, its High Quality digital effects, among which reverbs, modulated digital delays, analog filter simulators and parametric or graphic EQs. Moreover, DSP-Quattro expands it's capabilities exponentially as a host for third party Instrument and Effect AudioUnit and VST plug-ins. DSP-Quattro is designed for the most discriminating professional users. However, because of its simple and intuitive interface, DSP-Quattro is also an ideal product for novices in the field seeking to discover the world of digital audio. It allows for professional results, it is simple to use, and with plug-in hosting capabilities, offers seemingly endless possibilities.
Very flexible workflow, built in declicker is incredibly effective for restoring vinyl records. Very easy to create playlists, EFX can be added at the file level or at the playlist level. It also sounds incredible, very noticeable improvement over BIAS in this regard. Complete AU/VST plug in support, and can burn red book spec CD's. This is very important for me as I send masters to dupe houses and I don't need to use a 3rd party app like Toast. Very easy to manage regions and markers, unlimited non-destructive editing too. The tech support is second to none, this is the best available today without reservation! Fully Yosemite compatible too!!! Can also now create keyboard shortcuts!!
Some windows can't be resized, can be a bit small to read, but with OS X you can get around this easily with settings in the accessibility pane.
I've used BIAS Peak Pro 7XT, Amadeus Pro, Audacity, Sound Studio and Garage Band in the past. This is the Holy Grail, and it's a steal at $99.00. Also , if a former BIAS Peak user, they make it available for $49.00. You won't regret this!
fast and simple to use
I use it always to edit my audio files
it is a must if you play music.
supports all my VST and AU plug-ins
very nice internal effects
great playlist, an impressive tool for mastering...
no DDP export (at moment)
some VSTs do not load (but AUs do)
no multitrack sequencer inside
no user-configurable key commands (at moment)
no pencil tool
great application to play live, I always use it to host my plug-ins on stage.
An essential tool to teach music!
you have an incredible value for a very low cost.
my favourite application to master my audio CDs.
It never fails. Never a crash.
A masterpiece for audio file editing and audio CD mastering....
I liked the simplicity, but features I find in other mastering applications are missing. If I used the product at all if would be as a final step before burning a master.
To pinpoint a start and draw (drag) it back to a new start point is not an option. In and out points are not as good as splitting and dragging to a new point in the song to eliminate a section cleanly.
Further use would allow a fairer judgment. There were many I like, but I was fully happy with easy editing. It would appear I would have to be happy with my recording and have pre-fixed it. Again it wouldn't be fair in a one setting use to say the product has little value for the buck. I would have like to find more accessible and user-friendly editing features like gate, compression, eq, with many common plug-ins. The fact that I couldn't split the file was the most disappointing feature.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. This is one of those "hidden gems" that is less popular than other programs but is as good as or better than them in many, many ways, and is MUCH less expensive. Comparing this to many of the shareware programs isn't fair because most of them are just toys or stripped-down programs that are OK for occasional and strictly-amateur use. DSP-Quattro plays with the big boys. And, amazingly, DSP-Quattro is just about the only program that correctly draws a waveform! Seriously--try zooming in and out on any waveform (for maximum fun, use a sine wave) using, say, Peak, and watch how the frequency apparently changes depending on zoom level! This is just one of many, many things that DSP-Quattro gets right. Highly recommended.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. This is one fine piece of audio software. I've tried many of the commercial ones and the shareware ones and this is easily my favorite. It's cheaper than most of the commercial products (and better), and although it's expensive compared with some of the shareware, it is definately worth it. It is stable (unlike Sound Studio) and easy to use and well thought out. The basic controls are easily accessable with the more complex stuff out of the way yet also easily accessable. The only minor grip is that ugly OS 8-ish icon. Perhaps a new aqua-ish icon might not hurt. I highly recommend this app for anyone at any level of use.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. This program looks and works superbly so far. Its own built-in DSP effects are very good, and it has worked with all OS X VST effects thrown at it. Seems stable, and could have P**k looking over its shoulder before long...
