    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 8.0

"Power Director 8 is a DUCK."

by onlinehuman on November 28, 2009

Pros: Speed when used on a i7 920 processor with Nvida GTX260 Video Card.

Cons: It just crashes, crashes and crashes, and no support period. If the trial doesn't work for you, live with it. It will not get fixed anything soon. I test version 2220. tested on a i7 920 12GB Ram Nvidia GTX260 Window 7 64bit.

Summary: This software is beta software and you will pay to test this software for Cyberlink.
Bad marketing. eg Software regular price $99.95 Nov 13 with $15 off special. Nov 26 special $30 off. But regular price up to $119.90. you now pay $5 more, bu... read more >>

    "Wow...worse than I thought"

by roundrockmoe on November 17, 2009

Pros: -I found out in 20 minutes that it would not work. Didn't have to waste a lot of time playing with the trial.
-I did not pay any money for this

Cons: I wasted 20 minutes of my life on a thoroughly undertested mess

Summary: Usually bad reviews for a product on Cnet are a little bit overblown. In the case of PowerDirector, they don't seem to go nearly far enough. It took a full 5 minutes to even load on my new Windows 7 machine. When it finally loaded, nothing worke... read more >>

"So much potential and sooo flawed."

    by relate2 on November 11, 2009

Pros: 1. Stabilisation module when it works is a dream.
    2. Video noise reduction good.
Look there are soo many good things about this program, if they could just fix it.

Cons: Does not support i7cpu unless you disable 6 of the 8 cores, this solution is from Cyberlink support!!!!

Does not fully support HD 1080 video or for that matter any video if you really push the program with multiple pips, or especially video enhance.

Summary: Bottom line is I have been fighting with this program through PD7 and now PD8 and have only stuck with it because it has so much potential and has a fantastic help forum full of very good people.

My advice though if you want to keep your ... read more >>

"When will they fix the memory leak?!?"

by casparschutte on November 9, 2009

    Pros: UI looks good

Cons: The longer you work, the more memory it requires. You have to save/close/restart it at least every 5 min which is very annoying especially if you work with large video projects and have to reload the large video files.

Summary: This is junk!!! Don't even waste your precious bandwidth downloading the trial!

    Cons: bugs galore
You can't make a movie from beginning to end without miserable problems
