Cryptomax CleanUSB is a USB Mass Storage cleanup tool with a user friendly Wizard interface. When you delete a file from a USB Mass Storage (Flash disk, Cool disk, and Memory Stick.) you actually do not delete its content. Lot of restoration program is able to restore your sensitive and personal data. CleanUSB helps you to securely clean deleted data from your USB Mass Storage. Version 1 fixes some minor bugs on Vista.

This program successfully cleans your USB storage devices, but we quickly grew tired of one of its cleaning options.

Cryptomax CleanUSB offers a boring but functional interface that walks you through the cleaning process. First, it asks you to connect your USB device. After we selected our device from a drop-down list, the program offered us the option of cleaning the free space or deleting all of the files. We first chose to clean the free space, and though it took a long time, it performed as promised. On our second run, we elected to delete all of the files. A warning immediately popped up telling us that deleting all of the files might render the device unusable and that it would be better to manually delete the files and clean the free space instead. There was no additional information provided to help users decide whether to risk the delete option. We were puzzled as to why they'd offer an option that was apparently so dangerous.

Cryptomax comes with an ample 30-day trial, and even though it successfully cleaned our USBs free space, we can't recommend a tool that offers an option then warns you against using it.

  "good removal tool"

  Pros: like interface

  Cons: speed is not enough!

  Summary: I agree with prevoius comment. it is normal to warn about important files deletion. however I tested software and it removed all files successfull!

  "All files were cleaned; however, folder names remained"

  Pros: easy, fast. Cleans all files.

  Cons: I used Pandora file recovery program to check that the USB was clean, and I found all folder names were still present, but all files inside the folders were gone.

  Summary: The editor's review is too harsh in my opinion. The warning is just encouraging you to manually delete all your files, so you don't delete a file that the USB needs to operate. I don't specifically know what could be the potential problem for a US... read more >>
