While not the easiest on the eyes, this privacy program quickly and successfully rid our computer of unwanted files and wasted disk space.
To access Clean Disk Security, you will have to run it as an administrator. The interface's white on black color-scheme isn't the easiest on the eyes, but the overall layout is easy to navigate. Simply select the drive you wish to clean, and check off the areas you want to include during the cleaning process. The program includes options to clean recent files, clean browser cookies, and empty the Recycle Bin. As far as cleaning methods, you can manually enter the number of passes, or choose the NIS, Gutmann, or Test mode methods. We liked the status bar at the bottom of the window that let us know the program's progress. We also liked that the program displayed detailed lists of any found cookies and plug-ins so that you can directly manage them.
An extensive help menu is included, but even novices will appreciate the program's ease of use. A link is provided to purchase the full version, but we found no limitations with the trial. Users of all skill levels will find this a reliable tool for permanently removing files and browsing traces.

Cleans disks efficiently. I am confident that all traces of files are gone. Cleans a 100MB ZIP disk in about 4 minutes on least-secure setting. It only cleans FREE space - so you have to delete unwanted files first otherwise it leaves them intact. All features seem to be available in the shareware version - after a while a registration nag box appears periodically.

It's important to understand what a security program can do any why. Clean disk security is a fast and convenient way to erase things like the temporary documents and other recent files lists that Windows and other programs create as you use your computer. Most people have their hard drive set up with one or two partitions. Running this program with the setting selected to clean standard free space and to do a Gutmann wipe is ridiculous. It might take days. A free program called Eraser that can run on a schedule is better for that purpose. Also you can only wide a hard drive so many times before it will become unusable. Setting up a separate partition to store sensitive data that can be repeatedly wiped with Eraser rather than wearing out the part of the hard drive where windows is at is the way to go.
Clean Disk security is a great computer program. Running the program with a simple single pass should be the default setting. That will prevent files from being recovered with programs like Active file recovery.

When the program runs it writes infot to your harddrive. Let it run and it writes and writes to your harddrive. I ran it for 5 minutes and it made my used space jump from 13 gigs to 23 gigs full. I shut it down right away and it deleted what it added but I would not use it at all.

Summary
This is the best thing you can download for you computer and even more, for your hard drive. The only problem found by me was the fact that it can take up to 24 hr to do the "perfect" scan/passes (13gig HD). But, unless you are into something really bad, you should not need that setting. But, other than getting rid of your files 110%, it will also gain more space that you will from deleting from the Recycle Bin or shift+del. I have tested this and I know that it works great for this. I erased a 10k, or so windows reported. But after a setting of 3 passes on this file only, 12k was cleaned. Just think if you did this to all the "empty" space on your HD. You can recover lots of space that you have no idea was even missing. The good news is that you will never be caught doing what it is that you do that you want no one to know about. This also has a setting that will delete/erase according to the CIA's very own settings. If you can do this and recover and file, or part of a file, please post it. I hope that anyone that does a lot of downloading and erasing would us this small software with a big impact.

Summary
Im using version 7.3... After purchasing the full version i ran the full program and it worked perfectly. It wiped my index.dat and swap file to name a few, and it only took a few hours to bleach a few hundered gigs of empty hard drive space. Afterward i ran a recovery program and it was unable to find a single file to recover! Not the prettiest interface but very effective.
