CNET Editors' review
With Chronograph, you can rest assured you're right in time with the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This tiny application is one of those great tools you set up once and then forget about. Upon launching, it simply connects to one of several NIST servers around the world, downloads the right time, and compares it to your machine. The program can display time differences around the world.
It can work as a time server, too, so you easily can synchronize your clock to any computer in your LAN. You can run it manually or automate it to run at any interval you see fit. The utility supports automatic dial-up and proxies. We like its compact interface with lots of skins, which also customize the look of your taskbar clock. The invaluable service this software provides makes Chronograph well worth the download.
Publisher's Description
From AltrixSoft:
Chronograph is a utility that synchronizes your computer's internal clock to the atomic time. Standard internal clocks are usually very incorrect, and need frequent manual corrections. Chronograph automatically maintains correct time using atomic clock servers of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
What's new in this version: Version 6.70 has implemented daylight Saving Time changes for several countries.

"Skinable and convient, simple to use."
Version: Chronograph 6.55
Pros
I was using 3 scheduled tasks per 34 hours to keep my clock correct. This program gives immediate feed back if the clock is even off. One-click to check and one-click to correct. Much easier than programming scheduled system tasks.
Cons
Price is a bit too high for me, try closer to $15 for me. I did find out what the skins look like or how to make one myself.

Version: Chronograph 6.37
Pros
Mild nerdy thrill.if you like atoms and stuff.
Cons
No better than a clock.Come Armageddon, how you gonna tell the time then?

Fine if being synchronised is important to you. It's lightly better looking than the windows clock(why is that so dull?). Easy to install, use, and forget.
-
"I cannot see much use for it."
Version: Chronograph 6.37
Pros
It is easy to install.
Cons
How can I be assured I'm "right in time with the National Institute of Standards and Technology" if the connection is by Internet i.e. takes time? To properly synchronize my clock with the NIST I would need a radio signal or a cable connection.
Summary
The programme may be useful if one wishes to synchronize a number of computers on a local network. As I said, the proper synchronization with the National Institute of Standards and Technology is not possible by Internet in principle: it does take seconds for the information to travel up and down through the web.
I was not impressed by the design either. A number of skins was provided but they could change only the font and its background. The structure of the display remains the same, one cannot have e.g. the day of the week ( I need that) or the year (I need that in the beginning of a year). Besides the programme displays the time / date in one longish line which widens the quick launch bar which I found unbecoming. All in all, there is a lot of better quality clock gadgets on the Google website. The main claim of the synchronization with the national clock does not make much sense, as I said. -
