Pros
Easy, quick, clean interface, works well (other than the flaws mentioned in headline).
I continue using version 5 because like with so many upgrades of products and software around the world, CaptureWiz apparently (going by their new screenshot) eliminated a convenient tool, and because of no indication in the upgrade verbiage that failings noted below have been addressed.
Also because the last time shopping around online I found no product that does the job better so easily, though Snag-it does offer scroll capture.
Cons
1. Scroll capture does NOT work in Mozilla, which is the only browser worth using given how much Google Chrome sucks for everyone beyond people with no desire for convenience, visible tools, colored tabs and quick loading, no desire to stop Google (like Facebook) from following them around, collecting data and helping liberal Democrat (even Republican) traitors destroy America.
2. Version 6 deleted the "Full" capture option on the quick bar. Why do that?
3. Rendering chews up so much CPU that unless in an AC environment my laptop overheats and WILL shut down completely on some days. Sony Movie Studio has the same flaw. Format Factory (which converts video types from one to another, but does not screen-capture), has a pause button allowing me to let the processor cool for 10-20 seconds. With CaptureWiz, I get to watch the temp go up from the usual 156 to 199, then 205, 207. At 210, Windows will shut the computer off. So upon hitting 207, I cancel the render and wait till night.
Summary
When feeling like reading through bunches of reviews again, I occasionally see if there is an alternative to CaptureWiz that performs the job adequately. Nothing found when searching the last time. In the meantime, I crank up the Google Chrome (which takes 3x longer loading than Firefox) pig to capture scrolling windows. A pain, though usually preferable to giving up the planned scroll.
Meaning, I sort of recommend CaptureWiz until a superior offering finds its way to me or perhaps the day when PixelMetrix adds a pause feature, fixes the scrolling on Firefox and - why not - puts the "Full" capture button back.
One final hope: The progress bar that can be put anywhere on the screen always shows up in the same unwanted place. I looked and looked, finding no easy help explaining how to set default placement elsewhere.

Pros
I have been a user of various versions of CaptureWizPro since 2004. It does exactly what it claims to do - screen captures. I use it primarily for text capture but have also used it for photos. It is simple to use and easily accessible from its "dock" at the top of my window whenever I need it. A few clicks and I have what I want. This is a small but very powerful program for capturing what you see on your computer screen. When I upgraded to Windows 7, I tried their clip-it but went back to CaptureWizPro after only a few tries - no comparison. I wouldn't be without it and therefore have no reservation in recommending it to others.
Cons
The single license covers use on two devices. Only wish that a single license covered three; my two desktops and my laptop. No other Cons as far as I am concerned.

Pros
Manual save does work
Cons
I tried the auto save but it goes to a dialogue box. I used their instructions to set up automatic save so I could avoid that step on 500+ shots I needed. It doesn't work. It sometimes captures and saves the first ,but never subsequent shots.

Hello Dr. Ken Rich,
As we discussed by email, sorry, your ThinkorSwim trading platform is blocking screen capture. If you'll remember, I provided some alternatives, such as printing to a PDF file, using a free virtual machine or a remote desktop connection.
Pros
Many options
After 10 minutes, easy to use
Superior to Microsoft "free" product
Good support
Cons
Hard to find any - probably doesn't do 3D
Summary
Recommended if you want to share parts/all of computer media: stills or video.

Pros
Very intelligently designed for fast, efficient operation.
Cons
None. It's as perfect for the purpose as it can get.
Summary
I've been using CaptureWiz for what must be decades by now (at least a very long time, believe me). I absolutely love this program and use it constantly. It is so intelligently designed for very quick, effective operation that I use it at the drop of a hat. In my daily computer usage, I'll frequently capture something and make it a sticky to facilitate whatever it is that I'm trying to do. I just hit the F10 key, drag the rectangle around the desired area, and click on the Sticky icon. That's it. Done. And that's the way it is with everything - fast and efficient. David Eisler deserves a medal for this one. (He sends tips and news to his users and responds right away if you contact him about something.)

Hi ,my name is Carlos and I think you have done an excellent software
compared with others that I also have (snagit and ashampoo 8).
Your program has great advantages over them, notably its fast and realiable behaviour on scrolling captures.
My thanks and good wishes for you and your team David!!!

Cons

Pros
Have used this product for many years as an technical instructor who often needs to create my own courseware. Almost daily I need to capture application screen-shots and have found CaptureWizPro to perform this task quickly and easily. Lot's of features & options with great built in help and tips. Can scroll capture, capture audio and video, ability to capture elusive menus, drop-down lists, etc. Another big plus to me is that a purchased license allows you to load CaptureWiz on two PC's. There are free updates within a purchased release and highly discounted price if you want or need to upgrade to a newer release. (I'm on my third release)
Overall - very satisfied with this product.
Cons
None that I can think of. Just so comfortable with this capture application now that I have used it since 2009.
Summary
If you need a PC/Laptop Capture to file Wizard, I would highly recommend trying the free CaptureWiz program and see if it works for you.

Pros
I can't tell how many times I am doing something and just click on the yellow bar at the top to quickly capture a particular action or information on the screen. It is so much easier than trying to print an area. Many times I capture the info I want from some site and then print that to Foxit's PDF Printer to save it. I have also used it to capture some error so I can send that to some tech support site. Now they can actually see the error instead of me attempting to explain it.
Cons
The only con I can think of was just fixed in release 6.0. That was losing the saved dimensions of the capture window in a second monitor.
Summary
If you work any amount of time on your PC (and now other devices) you must have this oh so neat piece of software.

Did I mention Easy to Use?
Cons
None I can find
Summary
I've been using CaptureWiz for about seven years and I consider it a "must have" program. It sits unobtrusively on the left edge of the screen (or anywhere you prefer) and is always ready to grab whatever is on the screen (and more!) with just a couple of clicks. Once you captured the image you can save, email, print or edit it to your heart's content. It's quick, easy and easily the most valuable utility available. I don't update to every new version but am happy to pay when I see new features that I can use. Just upgraded from 4.5 to 6.0 and I'm very pleased!
