By Water Screensaver lets your choose from a number of relaxing waterfront scenes. After installing the screensaver, you can select from nine background settings, ranging from a pond at sunset to a lake in winter. In terms of design, this program has its pluses and minuses. All the background photographs are of excellent quality, and the moving water looks realistic in every one. However, the animated ducks, geese, and fish that inhabit the lake are rather crudely animated. In fact, we would have preferred this screensaver without the animals, but you can't choose to disable them. Thankfully, you can shut off the MIDI music, which is both repetitive and primitive. Although this program has its share of issues, bundled adware is not one of them, so we can still recommend it to nature lovers who aren't picky about graphics.
