Publisher's description of Bongosoft Anti Spam 2004
From Bongosoft Corporation:This patent-pending product authenticates the sender of each incoming e-mail message. During installation, your e-mail address book is imported by Bongosoft AntiSpam to form a foundation of 'allowed' senders. If an e-mail arrives from an unknown sender, Bongosoft AntiSpam automatically sends a 'challenge' message to that sender asking them to reply with your AntiSpam passcode. The AntiSpam passcode is sent along with the 'challenge' message in a graphical file. When the reply message is received and the passcode is found to be correct, that sender's original e-mail and all subsequent e-mail from that sender are passed to your inbox.
The program supports Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape Messenger, OpraMail, or any application accessing POP3 e-mail accounts.

"Warning!! Sneaky self-marketing!"
Pros: Looks like it might almost do what it says.
Cons: 1. SPYWAYE or WORSE!
With no prior warning this program will send an e-mail to any address you attempt to import ("whitelist") into it. Think about that, any e-mail address that you may have had in an old e-mail account. (Ex-bosses, coworkers, significant others, etc. will all get an e-mail from you).
1A. Supposedly this can only be turned off if you buy the program, which would be fine. But there should have been a very noticeable warning (when you are about to import addresses for instance). There was none!
1B. There is a greyed out notice viewable in a buried advanced menu options screen.
Honestly, that was so poorly done on their part I may uninstall the software even if it does work as it is supposed to.
2. Also conflicts with google desktop (which is a very good & very free product, IMHO)
3. I called the Bongosoft support # listed in the help file & it is a non-working #.
4. I feel violated & duped, I hope the same doesn't happen to anyone else & also there ought to be a better warning from Download.com (who I have trusted up until now) [usually thye warn if a download includes other shady programs, etc. I would say this qualifies]

"Very Effective and Easy to Use"
Summary: I have two domains and 6 sub-domains, with e-mail funnelling into about six accounts accessed by MS Outlook Express. Even with email filters and Spam prevention on the server side, I have gotten as many as 800 bogus mails in a single day. After in... read more >>

Summary: This is the greatest Anti-Spam Software I have tried. So user friendly even a non-tech person could use it.
