• Simple utility to test storage speed

  Pros

  Simple to use, easy to figure out. Small file size (a sign of good programming). No nonsense, gets the job done.

  Cons

  It should be possible to unmount ("eject") an SD card from within the program, and have it detect another automatically after inserting it, for testing different ones we have on hand. Now, the process is, close the program, eject device, insert new device, restart the program, test, and repeat. When you start it, main screen shows "nothing to display". "Press Start to see list of devices" might be a better message. The presentation could be improved. The ms access times graph was confusing to me, until I guessed that the bars represented. This should not have to be "installed". It should be a portable app and described as such, to make that more clear so that people know they aren't installing yet another program that will mess with the registry.

  Summary

  A very handy little utility. I discovered that the SD card I thought was the fastest, has good access times, but slower data transfer rates, than a card that I though would be slower. Helped me pick which card to use in a camera, and which to use as an SSD to run Linux Mint in a netbook that had a hard disk that just died. With all the fake and cheap and (intentionally) mislabelled SD cards on the market these days, it's good to have something like this, to figure out what's what.
