A remake of the classic Battleship board game, BattleFleet Pacific War has complex strategy features that help make it a lot of fun. The tutorial, a welcome addition, briefly explains major differences between the video game and the board game. Although the primitive graphics do not thrill us, we think the photographs of World War II are a nice touch. The game's primary goal is to destroy all enemy ships and seize control of their ports while protecting your own territory. Unlike the old-school board game, you can use the radar to detect enemy units.

BattleFleet Pacific War also offers a wide variety of ships, submarines, airplanes, and port artillery you can purchase. The game includes both simple duels and missions in which you must accomplish specified objectives in a certain number of turns. However, the trial version disables the military-campaign option, and you can't play the game in a separate window. We recommend BattleFleet Pacific War to all lovers of strategy games, as well as to military and history buffs.

Publisher's description

From Strategy Lights Series :

BattleFleet Pacific War is a naval, turn-based strategy game is an extension of the classic Battleship game, in which ships, planes, and submarines can move. The game covers all major battles in the Pacific theater during WWII and has missions and Free Hunt and Death Match scenarios from Pearl Harbor, the Coral Sea, and Midway to the Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Leyte battles. The user-friendly game engine allows more than 40 unit types, including carriers, battleships, cruisers, destroyers, torpedo boats, fighters, bombers, submarines, and port artillery, with the production of new units during the game. The game objectives are various: you can conquer major enemy ports, destroy enemy ships, defend ports, and secure a transport convoy to the friendly port. The Battlefield map can be enlarged up to 96x96. All units and officer ranks are historic. Version 1.96 improves USS Iowa class battleship
