This audio-editing utility has a few uncommon features to its credit, making it a bit more functional than its competitors. Among the program's more impressive traits are its ability to merge files, set synthesizer parameters, convert batched files into other formats, and work with the MIDI standard. Awave Studio also is compatible with a long list of file formats. The number of convertible formats is enormous, ranging from MP3 to RM with customizable bit rates. However, the utility somewhat inconveniently decodes all audio files into the MPEG-1 format before it will play them. The program's interface is nice, although its main window is decidedly lackluster. But if features and functionality are more important to you than interface appearance, Awave Studio will definitely suit your needs.

Awave Studio is a multi-purpose audio tool that reads 260+ different audio file formats from different platforms, synthesizers and trackers. It can be used in a variety of ways: as an audio file format converter, an audio editor, an audio and midi player, and, last but not least, as a wavetable synthesizer instrument editor and converter.

Version 10.2 adds support for reading Roland sequencer files (.SVQ), Yamaha Turos 2 voices (.TVN), Apple CoreAudio files (.CAF), WavPack lossless files (.WV), and Roland MT-32 LA-synthesis timbre dumps(.SYX).
