- After upgrading to Anniversary Edition for Windows 10, I installed Avast trial.
- After the install my computer did another update, restarted and came up with a BSOD.
Summary
Avast just can't seem to get it right with Windows 10. I had issues a while back when first installing Windows 10 with Avast. I've switched to Avira Free Antivirus and it is so far working well.

Can you tell us which version of Avast you installed on your machine? There was a known issue with certain devices using Intel processors that caused an issue with the Anniversary Update, leading to the BSoD. We quickly resolved this issue and you should not have been seeing this happen as long as you were using the latest version of Avast. Scans internet sites before opening. Easily installed and (maybe) automatically updated. The 3-year subscription is reasonably priced. Scans PC rather quickly.
Cons
Provides conflicting information on PC status. Does not display what (year) version Avast is running. Poor feedback from Support, Recently stopped recording internet scan history and blocked sites?
Summary
Works OK with existing internet security which comes with Windows.

Avast Internet Security is not secure on its own. Use with Malwarebytes paid version and your PC will be fairy safe.
Cons
If you call Avast they won't help unless you buy tech support. Before purchasing I asked if they could help with a specific issue. They said absolutely and charged my card $144. They transferred to a tech who said they could NOT help with my issue. Asked for a refund immediately and they said "No refunds". This company cannot be trusted. Disputing with credit card company. Their techs are not that knowledgeable. This service might be good for a novice who needs basic assistance.
Summary
Customer service will tell you anything to get you to buy tech support and their techs have only basic knowledge. Use Microsoft paid support.

Everything works great and silently with the exception of Safe Zone. See below.

I have used Avast Free for 5 or 6 yrs, and Internet Security for 3 now. The 2015 version's Safe Zone---as soon as you go to a page (a bank log-in or Amazon, for example) that uses Flash, the Flash Player will crash. Then SafeZone will hang FOREVER. You cannot pull up the task mgr using mouse or keyboard, and the only option is to shutdown by holding down power button, causing major corruption to Windows files. There is a GINORMOUS amount of discussion about this on the Avast community with little talk of resolution. I talked to Natalia at Bulgar, Avast's remote support contractor, and she acted like it was the first time she'd ever heard of this. She remotely accessed my computer, and brought up the Windows Error Log, and it was loaded with errors caused by Safezone/Flash conflicts. She then tries to sell me a service where a technician can remotely repair my Windows for $179.00. Obviously, I feel like they should repair it for free since their product damaged my 2 week old computer.
Summary
I don't know whether I had an isolated incident due to a bad installation, or what. I would hazard to say not since the Avast community board is abuzz about Safe Zone/Flash incompatibility. A word to the wise is sufficient.

The SafeZone browser is designed to run without extensions that could compromise your system, but keep in mind that many sites are moving to HTML5 and sites you mentioned such as Amazon and banking sites (which I tested just now) should work fine with no problems at all! It has severely degraded my use of the internet. I was only when I completely removed the program I could use the internet. There is virtually no support for any issues. I understand you will not refund my money but I think your assessment of this product should reflect the issues. I also know I am not the only one with these issues b/c the one site (not avast.com) that would address any issues there were multible questions & ask for help with the same issue but no support at all. Hate I went with this program. should have stayed with Kaspersky.

I check out reviews of the product before I purchased.it Be careful all the reviews you see are for the free version or for earlier. Not the current versions.

Summary
Avast has been around for over 27 years, very reputable company. For those having issues with pop-ups GO INTO SETTINGS> CHECK 'SILENT/GAMING MODE'. Its as easy as that. For free software you will deal with ads etc..I've been using the free version for years, but decided to upgrade to the paid version. Support the software developers, they are doing good work! I got a good price too by clicking the store tab on left side. I have tested Bitdefender, AVG, and many others, and AVAST has the best interface by far, and best security features!

Works in the background to protect me against viruses, like it always has.
Cons
All of a sudden, I am getting popup ads begging me to upgrade to a premium tier. I have been using Avast for free for a long time... popup ads are not going to make me upgrade. They will make me jump ship to a free, less annoying product.

According to Avast Free documentation, you can remove the ads only in the paid version. Yes, this is new. The ads are for Avast products... I guess they figure if they are going to license their product for free, they can try to get you on board as a paid user.

1) Full of pop up ads to buy their products
2) Too many ads popping up all the time
3) Invasive pop ups annoying and unwanted
4) Avast reputation taking a hit due to so many pop ups
5) Will this be the end of Avast ???
Summary
Used to be good. Now there are better alternatives out there without annoying ads.
I'm switching 300 + clients to Kaspersky as a result of Avast's direction change and their insistence on so many pop ups.....
My advice to consumers is to look elsewhere until (if) Avast reverse this silly policy.

Pros
Has a lot of features. Seems to be very configurable to my likings. The best UI of any AV I have used.
Cons
It is very bloated. The shield system they have is very useless, it seems like a redundant way to go about protecting a computer. My computer would freeze a lot, especially while using Chrome when it was installed. My computer works perfectly fine now that I uninstalled it. I was using the 2015 edition.
Summary
I wouldn't use this unless you are a very new computer user, who has no idea what you are doing. It's very good if you want complete protection from viruses, but I think it has a lot of improvement to make it worthy for tech savy people like me.
