From TabGuitarLessons :Advanced FretPro a guitar fretboard training software. Advanced FretPro also contains a huge library of scales and chords which are displayed on a graphical fretboard showing not only the position but also the notes that are used in the scale or chord. The program features a game mode where you are presented with a fretboard and have to correctly name the highlighted fret positions. You can choose which frets and strings to test. Practice against the clock and keep a note of your average note recognition time.

Pros: If you are looking for a simple scale display and chord pattern display, it's not bad.
Cons: The chord patterns are a little limited. I would have like to hear what the chords and scales sounded like.

"Excellent Daily practice tool"
Pros: Very customizable. I was worried about the availability of a left-handed fretboard. There is no left-right option but it's not needed.
There is plenty of free content at the website - stuff for sale, too.
Boring? What would you recommend to make note/chord recognition exciting? Lasers picks to shoot the correct note/chord icons with? :-)
Cons: Audio output woud be nice, especially for chord and pattern practice.

"Brilliant, helps you learn your guitar fretboard note positions with a game."
Pros: Fretpro has a game mode where you have to "guess" (er.. I mean KNOW) the note at random fret positions. You can choose how many frets and strings to practice and best of all its FREE.
It also has a chord library and scale library that show what notes to play on the fretboard.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like about it was that you couldn't print the scales and chords out. I got round that easily enough by screen grabbing (press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard and then paste into your favourite graphics editor)
That's all though, otherwise it's brilliant.

"learn the guitar fretboard fast."
Pros: This program does exactly what it says "on the tin" - it helps you learn the guitar fretboard by making it a game. Its free and I like it a lot. I use it every day for 10 minutes and my note knowledge has come a long way.

"cool guitar tool. use with your guitar lessons to improve"
Pros: cool software. helped me learn the notes. There's also an ebook on their site for a technique to learn all the notes on the fretboard easily. I've read it and it's cool. I highly recommend it
Cons: Someone else mentioned printing. I think it should be able to print your scales to practice them away from the computer. Well worth a download though.
