In spite of its promising name, Advanced File Organizer is basically a tree catalog for your files. It does allow quicker access to your documents, though, and you can organize your folders and files into groups. Categories add flexibility, allowing documents to belong to several categories at once. Advanced File Organizer also alleviates work with documents by letting you provide a description for any file, folder, group, or category. We'd like a tray icon or at least a hot key to launch the program, and more integration with Windows Explorer wouldn't hurt. We recommend the program for those who work with numerous documents.Publisher's description

Version: Advanced File Organizer 3
"The most useful piece of software I own"
Pros: FAST! Can handle quite a large database. I'm currently indexing over half a million files and searches are still near-instant. I don't know how I'd find anything without it.
Cons: Searches can be a pain if you have files that use characters other than space to separate words. To find "I_Love_Rick_Astley.jpg" you would have to search "*Rick?Astley*", but "Rick Astley" would work if spaces were used instead of underscores.
Summary: There are plenty of features that can be enabled to suit your archival needs. It can scan compressed archives and index their contents, for instance, or this feature can be disabled if it's unnecessarily slowing down your disc scanning. You can also... read more >>
