CNET Editors' review
Though they required minor editing, this file converter quickly and easily converted our PDFs to Word, Excel, and other file formats. We were, however, disappointed by its double-whammy of a trial limitation.
Able2Extract PDF Converter has a sleek and professional-looking user interface. Intuitive commands and navigational buttons reside at the top of the window. Novice users will especially appreciate the tips and the step-by-step guide it employs to walk you through the conversion process. The process was extremely easy and fast. Once we located our PDF, it was simply a matter of selecting the text we wanted to convert, and clicking on the file format icon on the toolbar. When we converted the PDF text to a Word file, we did have to clean it up a bit, removing a few extraneous lines and characters, but the text itself required no editing whatsoever. The program also has the capability to convert PDFs to HTML, Excel, and text files, which worked perfectly when we put them to the test. The Batch Conversion feature let us add multiple files to convert to the same file format in one fell swoop, a very handy tool for users handling numerous files.
The program offers a built-in Help feature. We were a little put off by its meager seven-day trial period, and three-page conversion limit. We also had to manually remove files during the uninstallation. But despite its few drawbacks, we highly recommend this PDF converter for all user levels.

"some problems with some characters in text and graphics"
Version: Able2Extract 8.0.26
Pros
easy and fast
Cons
some text converted to symbols and some letters missing entirely. pictures and graphics were not as editable as I would like.
Summary
better than many but not perfect
-
"Works great when it works"
Version: Able2Extract 8.0.24
Pros
Converts PDF's to the most popular MS Office platforms
Cons
Fails more often than not. It will continue to process and process until the application is cancelled. Then a Fatal Exception error will finally show up.
Summary
If this application worked 90% of the time it would be a great utility to own. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to the hype. Though I'm sure if enough people complain about the product it will either be improved or you don't have to worry about purchasing it.

"Batch doesn't work all the time"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.0.14
Pros
Does the basics
Cons
batch conversion is a mess
Summary
I bought the professional version to do batch conversions. First the program completely crashes with certain files, instead of just skipping over them. Next I turn on the OCR engine to perform image-based conversion but that gets reseted to default when I apply batch conversions, works great with single conversions though. Lastly I contacted tech support but have been completely ignored for a week now.

"Works perfectly with clean PDF's"
Version: Able2Extract 8.0.24
Pros
I use this program all the time to convert PDF's to Word and Excel. I've used it with Windows XP Pro and Windows 7, Office 2k3 and 2k7. If the document is straight and is a clean PDF (as in very readable), it works perfectly.
Cons
If the PDF is a crooked scanned document, if it's a fax, or otherwise hard-to-read document, the OCR is not accurate.

"This company is SHADY - avoid at all costs."
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.0.14
Pros
None. Company website said my credit card was declined twice, turns out that both attempts were succesful but the "company" and never sent me the key. Read below....
Cons
If your experience is anything like mine, this "company" will charge you twice while telling you that the card was denied both times. However, the charges will go through but they will not send you the key to unlock the software. When you try to call them to straighten it out the "company" will not pick up the phone. They also will not respond to your credit card company when they attempt to resolve the problem. Shady shady shady.
Summary
As of this writing I will need to wait 4 business days to get my money back. Again: The company website from which I ordered told me TWICE that my card was denied. Although I suspected a software glitch I later noted that my credit card was indeed debited. I have still not received a key and I cannot get a refund for a few days.
After reading previous comments and taking into account my own experience, I would avoid this company entirely. -
"Converted a scanned pdf file into editable excel file"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.0.14
Pros

Summary
strongly recommend this product! worked for me in a pinch! Saved me time and money!

"Did not work for me"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.0.14
Pros
None the s/w was unable to read my file.
Cons
would not read the file
Summary
213 pdf converter read file and I was able to use the pdf in powerpoint but had some problems with the graphics. If I would have done a text only option in 123 pdf converter I may have not had a problem at all. I was not able to get that far with able2extract.

"High-Cost but High-Value"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.11
Pros
Downloads quickly and easily; Helpful balloon tips guide you on exactly what to do first time; Most importantly - worked very well in converting a PDF form to an pretty-much exact Word replica
Cons
Trial version limitations; High price
Summary
I tried various other converters that just failed to convert. This worked quickly, straightforwardly, and well. Halve the price and I might even buy a copy!

"Works Great"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.11
Pros
Did exactly what it is supposed to do. Converted all kinds of text numbers and data to excel. There were multiple columns that needed to be converted and I did have to cut and paste the extra columns into one big column, but no complaints!
Cons
Hard to come up with a con
Summary
Doesn't say freeware! Doesn't say unlimited pages. Purpose is just to show you it works and it does....nicely. Is $100 bucks expensive? For one time use, sure, but if you will be repeating the conversion over and over on multiple documents, the time it saves is certainly worth $100.00

"Only works for a while"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.11
Pros
Simple to load into software
Cons
It is a bait and switch. It worked when I bought it, but after a couple days, it said I needed to "upgrade".
Summary
For $99.95 it should work for more than a couple times. I converted three files when I bought it. Then did not need it for a couple days, I came back and tried to used it, but it said I needed to upgrade to "Professional"! I've been taken. Too bad it is not a US company.
