• Looks good, editing and saving works

  Looks good. Have to look around to find the functions, like conversion. Other functions only appear, upon editing a page. Editing works.

  Cons

  The trial lets you convert at most 3 pages. Result of conversion was unreadable: ( ! ! & 4

• Only PDF converter that works for Excel as well as Word

  Pros

  Anything printed to PDF converts perfectly to any Office Suite format. Works like a charm. It does a very good job on scanned documents, and its "eyes" are at least as good as mine, trying to decipher whether that was a 3 or an 8, an l or a 1, etc.

  Cons

  None really. I haven't bothered to try the batch function as I usually use the converted document upon conversion, rather than just converting them for filing, as some of the whiny users seem to be doing. A well-done one-at-a-time conversion is much better than a useless batched one.

  Summary

  I see no reason that anyone should complain. Wall Street banks use this program - I know because it was on the advice of one of them that we tried it. It's frankly miraculous to anyone who has struggled with conversions since PDF security became the priority over utility.

  Pros

  A no-brainier to figure out how to run and it actually works, unlike all the other software I have tried which upon conversion return nothing, or gibberish. Decent price too considering the time it saves.

  Cons

  Doesn't like large pdf files. One has to reduce their size in Adobe of Bluebeam before it will open them, but once it opens them magic happens.

  Summary

  I have spent hours, let me correct that, numerous days inserting coordinates into a spreadsheet for survey layout points manually because no software appeared to exist that would extract data from a PDF to Excel. I was quite astounded that in 2013 there still only appears to be one program that does this and Able2extract pro is it. I have no idea and don't care how well it works with text but if you are looking for something that extracts numerical data from a PDF file, even ones created by a scanner then this is your lucky day. Just be aware that it doesn't like large files but if you reduce them in size in Bluebeam or Adobe it will open them and allow your hands to do something useful like tip back a beer instead of punching in numbers.

• Did what it claimed

  Pros

  It successfully converted a .pdf to .doc (Word). It took very little time to make the conversion.

  Cons

  It uninstalled my C++ package and then re-installed the same package, and it took awhile. Uneditable fields in the .pdf were still uneditable in Word.

  Summary

  Scanned by anti-virus and malware checker, they both came up clean. Software seems to do what they claim. Those two things seem to be more than some of the same software around here.

  Pros

  Converts PDF's to the most popular MS Office platforms

  Cons

  Fails more often than not. It will continue to process and process until the application is cancelled. Then a Fatal Exception error will finally show up.

  Summary

  If this application worked 90% of the time it would be a great utility to own. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to the hype. Though I'm sure if enough people complain about the product it will either be improved or you don't have to worry about purchasing it.

  batch conversion is a mess

  Summary

  I bought the professional version to do batch conversions. First the program completely crashes with certain files, instead of just skipping over them. Next I turn on the OCR engine to perform image-based conversion but that gets reseted to default when I apply batch conversions, works great with single conversions though. Lastly I contacted tech support but have been completely ignored for a week now.

  Pros

  I use this program all the time to convert PDF's to Word and Excel. I've used it with Windows XP Pro and Windows 7, Office 2k3 and 2k7. If the document is straight and is a clean PDF (as in very readable), it works perfectly.

  Cons

  If the PDF is a crooked scanned document, if it's a fax, or otherwise hard-to-read document, the OCR is not accurate.

  Pros

  None. Company website said my credit card was declined twice, turns out that both attempts were succesful but the "company" and never sent me the key. Read below....

  Cons

  If your experience is anything like mine, this "company" will charge you twice while telling you that the card was denied both times. However, the charges will go through but they will not send you the key to unlock the software. When you try to call them to straighten it out the "company" will not pick up the phone. They also will not respond to your credit card company when they attempt to resolve the problem. Shady shady shady.

  Summary

  As of this writing I will need to wait 4 business days to get my money back. Again: The company website from which I ordered told me TWICE that my card was denied. Although I suspected a software glitch I later noted that my credit card was indeed debited. I have still not received a key and I cannot get a refund for a few days. After reading previous comments and taking into account my own experience, I would avoid this company entirely.
