If you're looking for one tool that can handle a myriad of compression methods, from RAR and ZIP to TAR and TGZ and nearly 30 other formats, ALZip just might be for you. In fact, archive format support is ALZip's forte. It'll even open ISO and other CD images. All the usual archive application options are here, as well: context menu additions, password protections, virus scanner integration, and assistance in creating self-extracting archives.
The interface looks modern and is well-designed, with archive contents displayed as icons, in a list or in a detailed spreadsheet-style grid. There are 14 criteria by which you can sort files, the program supports 21 languages, there's a test function to make sure the archive works, and you can save in eight formats. We also like the bird-egg icons--a small touch, to be sure, but they show that aesthetics are still important, even in freeware.
This program leaves a slightly larger footprint than WinZip, but since we're talking about a difference of 2MB we think it's worth giving ALZip a chance to fly.
Publisher's description
From ESTsoft :ALZip is a one-stop archiving and compression program designed for speed and ease of use. Beginners can easily perform advanced tasks, while power users can do things faster. With support for more compression and archiving formats than any other major utility, ALZip is the only ZIP utility you'll ever need. You can open 36 archive and compression file formats, open CD image files (ISO, BIN), open virtual CD files (LCD), create 8 archive and compression file formats, create self-extracting files (EXE), split files for easy transfers, recover lost passwords from ZIP files, integrate antivirus software, automate tasks with ALZip command-line functions, and get more done faster. The ALTools family of free PC utilities share the same cute Egghead characters, are a fun addition to any computer, are ideal for children, and powerful enough for IT pros.

"My favorite, chance to get this free!"
Pros: Great tool. Deals with almost all file extensions. Unique features such as lost zip password recovery are awesome.
Cons: A trial version.
Summary: It seems that ALZip is not free, but found that there is a ongoing Facebook event for giving ALZip to people for free. Check out the below website.

Version: ALZip 7.52
"Perfect file compression program"
Pros: Does pretty much everything. Zip, unzip, split files, set password and even crack password i forgot. Almost all file extensions can be unzipped from Alzip, which is great of the product.
Cons: I hesitated to buy because of the price written on their website, but found out some events are going on and got a license for free. Well, the Cons will be that is a little expensive for a file compression program.
Summary: Great software with great functions! I love it.

"Good when it was a free software... surely not now"
Pros: it's very simple, it's user friendly, it creates amazing icons and it's a good software for file compression
Cons: shareware and expensive, it was a free software once.
sometimes it doesn't open archives that others software can handle easily.
E.g. it doesn't open the Paint.net archive that you can download here at download.com (try if you don't trust me)Summary: It was a good and nice software when it was free, but now i prefer 7-zip which is free.
