YS Flight Simulator is a fully featured lightweight flight simulator. As well as basic functionalities, it has network feature that allows you to fly with or against your friends. You also can fly a formation leader, dogfight, intercept, attack ground, take off and land on an aircraft carrier and so on, and you can choose your airplane from more than 50 airplanes, and there are several maps as well.

Flight Simulator 4 half as fun as YS !

Pros
Install options gave options to NOT install other language, and a choice of GL or DirectX saving tons of disk space. Microsoft just overloaded the memory, it never real time like YS here. Loaded with VFR and IFR options, record your take-off's flight, and landings. Tower contact if you wish. Best was rudder, flaps, thrust reversers, realistic flight guages and all visable in different views.
Cons
Not big on terrain. Some 360 degree views could use a "slow------[]------fast slider. But for the price, I could fly a Cessna after playing "crabbing" on cross winds. (wink)

Worth the download. Installed on first try. Found my AVB Top Shot joystick right away. No jerky screens. Full post flight stats. The person responsible must belong to the AOPA ! My Dad was USAF and a Boeing employee. Shame he left us in 86. He would have loved it more than I do. Keep this guy in business....donate. Steve@BDW 9-R

This is a flight simulator to be relaxed mainly. ...and to test some acrobatics that have in your mind. It`s very light, does not need an expensive computer to run, everyone could test its favorite plane, in a flat landscape, without trees, with some buildings and little mountains.

This isn't a game, but rather a proper simulation package. Practice your flight maneuvres for playing in other flight games and get the feeling of various aircraft. The non-existent graphics make the sim ultra-fast and makes one focus on the flight and not the sight. Perfect.
Found this to be one of the best free sims around.

Overall, this is a great game. Though it may seem cartoonish and unrealistic, once you have some great addons in there this can be very fun to play. Unlike some other sims, you will be sure to max out the FPS on this game if you have a computer less than 3yrs old. And if you have an even older computer, you will get near-max FPS. The addons in this game are amazing. They can range from commercial airliners like the 747 to fighter jets like the F-22. However, the game is not limited to modern day planes. There is a huge selection of WW2 and Cold War-era planes, and there is even the Wright brothers' plane! All of these aircraft are quite high quality. Addons are very easy to install, you just copy and paste and you are good to go (see ysfhq,com for a tutorial). And that's just the aircraft addons. There are a ton of maps available for download, with ranging scenery from Japanese countryside to urban metropolis. There are also is a Grand Canyon map and various naval aviation maps. All of these addons are made possible by the worldwide userbase this game offers. When you are flying on a server, it is quite common for you to meet someone that is not from the same country as you. The main fansites that are out there are YSFHQ.com and YSPilots.com. There is also a Japanese-speaking community, as this sim is very popular in Japan. Some features of the game: - multiplayer/online play - air combat - a variety of weather conditions - a landing practice mode This is a great sim for people getting started in flight sims or returning simmers. It is very easy to get started, and can be a very fun game for both "coffee breaks" and hardcore gaming (endurance mode). Don't let the graphics discourage you from the game; the gameplay far outweighs the graphical detail (but if you want more detail addons are available).
