When Google, Yahoo, or any other major search engine overwhelms you with so many matches it reads more results than dollars in the national debt, ChunkIt might be the plug-in for you. Available for Firefox and Internet Explorer, it "chunks" up your search returns, providing snippets of relevant text.

The add-on splits your browser tab into two vertical sections, the left side with the ChunkIt results and the right with unchunked returns. Clicking on the text of a ChunkIt result loads the text in the right pane, highlights the relevant bit in yellow, and scrolls directly to it. A link at the top of the pane opens the page that your result lives on in a new tab.

This is a large plug-in, weighing in at more than 8MB. Using it requires use of the ChunkIt toolbar, something that may not go over well as browser design becomes more streamlined. Users who need help narrowing down broad searches will find this plug-in exceptionally useful. On the other hand, users comfortable maneuvering through "the Google" might find ChunkIt extraneous to their needs.

ChunkIt finds information I could never find on my own!

Pros
Chunkit is great in that it lets you see inside the links before you have to click anything. It has definitely saved me a bunch of time. Also 'chunking links' is wonderful, so I can go through information on any web page, vs. just a search engine.
Cons
None yet. I really like the way it works.

Pros
One click searching through entire Web pages is amazing. I find infromation so fast now. I spend a lot less time on news sites now that I have this tool.

I learn something new everytime I use the product. I like everything about it.

This product is awesome. A little bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out you can't search without it. The chunks are so brought back so fast with keywords highlighted that the desired inforamtion pops right off the scree. You have to check this one out for yourself.

Super easy to use- just type in a phrase and it goes through links for you! Cool to preview the links before you go to them.

Pros
ChunkIt! has a feature unlike any search engine or browser based search with Chunk Links. Chunk LInks allows a user to type in keywords and have each link in a page searched for those keywords.
Cons
Some of the buttons on the ChunkIt! bar are rarely used. Some of them do not bring anything to the table that hasn't been brought already. Other than that, it is a great search tool.
Summary
I'll go back to my spiel about Chunk Links. Lets say if I entered a keyword into the ChunkIt box and pressed Chunk Links while I was at download.com. This function will browse through the page that each link is redirected to and look for the keywords. Yes, thats right, I will look through the entire page of EACH redirected link. There have been pages with up to 300 links that it has searched through smoothly before for me. Try this product out for yourself and see if it can help you out too with narrowing down 100's of pages of links. - Oh wait, theres more. Not only does it go through all the linked pages, when it returns a hit, it will redirect you not only to the page, but to the exact location of the keyword you searched. Confused at all? Take on ChunkIt! for yourself.
