Yasu for Mac is a streamlined program designed to keep your machine running smoothly by carrying out certain routine maintenance tasks. You can quickly select the tasks you'd like the program to complete during each scan, and whether you'd like the computer to shut down or restart after each session.

Pros

Highly customizable: Through this app's streamlined interface, you can select exactly what tasks you want it to perform at any given point. Options include clearing the cache and history from your browser, running daily, weekly, and monthly cron scripts, clearing system logs, application logs, archived logs, and crash logs, and removing cookies.

Runs smoothly: This program runs just the way you'd like it to. Scans are completed quickly, and computer shutdowns or restarts are initiated once the scans are complete depending on your preference.

Cons

Specific usage: This program was designed specifically for System Administrators to use as one of multiple maintenance tools. While it carries out its promised functions admirably, it is not, nor was it ever meant to be, a comprehensive system care program.

Bottom Line

Yasu is a streamlined and effective program for completing one important aspect of routine maintenance for your system. If you're looking for a comprehensive system care program, this isn't it. One of the Best free utilities available for Mac OS X.

Pros
It just works and does not mess up your machine like many other "utilities" can and have done.
Cons
There are none. This does "So Much More" than just repairing disk permissions with Disk Utility. You also have the option of turning many things On or Off.

Pros
It takes about 10 minutes to run and I use it about every 3 days. Each time, I end up with about 3-5 gigs more of memory and the machine runs more quickly.
Cons
Nothing to dislike. Not the fault of Yasu, but I was surprised at how long it took to deal with the "permissions." Gonna have to learn more about that.
Summary
If you have a Mac (I have a Macbook Pro) and don't want to become a technical expert, Yazu is something you absolutely need.

It uses only included command line programs and has never failed.
Cons
I just wish it would clear the HTML 5 Database (HTML< cookies you can see if Safari's Preferences, Security tab, Show Database). I guess as more people get wind of HTML 5 cookies it will start clearing these Databases.
Summary
This application is a no-brainer to run software maintenance that should run about once every three to four months. It runs simple Unix command line programs that are already in OS X to clear cache, bloated logs, cookies, etc.

I wrote and asked for help and was so pleased with a complete and polite answer within a few hours. First time that has happened with any product I own. I am so glad I was told about this product.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Previously, I loved Yasu. This time it messed up my system. I spent some time fixing some things myself, more time with Earthlink, and even more time with Apple to get my Mac 10.4.11 back in shape. I downloaded Onyx for 10.4, which previously messed up my system with an earlier version, but which works fine now. Onyx was good, then bad, now good. Yasu was great, now bad. A bad fit here and there, I suppose.
