XMIND for Mac offers easy-to-use templates and features for mapping ideas. With a basic but clean interface, the program allows for idea entry and plotting with numerous customizable templates to choose from.
The program's initial menu gives the user a number of template examples covering many categories, including projects, organizational charts, and timelines, among others. Once one is selected, XMIND for Mac brings up a basic set of text bubbles and lines connecting them. Users can easily click each one to change the inserted text, and click and drag them around the screen. A row of buttons along the top gives the user access to many options, with good descriptions given when you hover your mouse over one. Users can insert photographs, or even make audio notations, which are nice touches. Complete plots can be uploaded to the developer's Web site for sharing if desired. In a sizable left-column window, additional options for lines and text features are also available and easy to change. Although the overall look of the program appeared dated, with no advanced graphics or interesting color designs, that didn't have any impact on XMIND's functionality. We didn't have any problems and each of the options worked well during testing.
As a mapping application for ideas that saves time and enhances productivity, XMIND for Mac's useful options and functional presets make it a decent choice for those who need a visual way to map out ideas, projects, or plans.
