The game’s combat hinges on tap-and-swipe mechanics, segmented into light, heavy, and special attacks. 

Wrestlers are divided into six classes, each with its strengths, adding structure to roster-building. Weekly events tied to real-world WWE broadcasts provide fresh matchups, while both tag-team bouts and live versus modes expand the scope. WWE Mayhem is designed as an ongoing, collection-driven game built around character variety and limited-time battles.

Tap, swipe, dominate the ring

WWE Mayhem cycles through a wide selection of weekly, limited-time events that mimic WWE programming like RAW, SmackDown, and pay-per-view specials. These challenges feature event-specific rewards and often restrict certain classes or characters' entries. The game's structure rewards participation across these formats with bounties, gold, and loot cases. Tag Team matchups and class-based restrictions are added to rotate your squad and maintain an upgraded bench of Superstars from all classes.

The roster is divided into six classes: Brawler, High Flyer, Powerhouse, Technician, Wildcard, and Showman. Each class is color-coded and interacts with others through a strength or weakness relationship, similar to a rock-paper-scissors format. Collecting duplicates helps level up characters, and synergy bonuses can be gained by forming teams with storyline-based connections. Wrestlers are stylized visually, offering caricatured character models to reflect their in-ring personas.

Combat relies on repetitive tap and swipe inputs segmented into light, medium, and heavy strikes. Blocking and special meters are built during the match for impactful finishing moves and reversals. A well-timed reversal can interrupt an opponent's special, but reversals can be countered in return. The result is a layered but still arcade-level approach to match flow. Special animations are unique to each wrestler, and signature moves are visually exaggerated.

The structure emphasizes daily play and roster growth through repetition, tapping into timed events and faction-based team building. It delivers fast, animated matchups without offering extended strategic complexity or realism in its systems.
