I've tried Fore Flight and WingX and I think WingX is much better to use. The latest version addressed all the concerns expressed in the past. The key to using any of these applications in a real airplane is ease of use and how quickly can you find the info you want. WingX excels on both of these tests in the real world.
Cons
The "how-to" videos don't always exactly match the latest version, but you can still learn the tasks.
Summary
Don't bother with Fore Flight at all. WingX will make you happier.
Game Changer
AZCTFlyer
Pros
New version adds synthetic vision and more
5-page Notepad is very useful
Now has rubber-banding for routes
Position report is nice feature
Costs less than buying charts
Cons
$99/yr extra for Synthetic Vision... but that includes updates for databases.
Need to present weather decoded
Summary
Very capable and customizable product. Love the airspace and terrain features. All the info a pilot needs!
WingX vs Foreflight
Rsfkadi
Pros
Graphics easier to read flight plan table than FFt, FF has easy route banding, hard to read, for flt pln table,,should buy each other out and it would be a GARMIN GAME CHANGER. very useable Bad Elf or GNS 5870 GPS. Prices VERY Reasonable vs Garmin
Cons
No rubber banding routes, both need : flight instruments depicted, Track UP option, Synth Vision based on Google Earth software ....then we can laugh at Garmins' high prices.
