WindowsFilter easily hides user-specified folders and Windows components, but concealed folders remain accessible to those familiar with the command prompt window.

This program's functional interface can be password-protected and proves easy enough to operate. Simply select which folders or Windows registry components you would like to hide or disable, then apply your changes and that's it. You easily can prevent access to the Task Manager, Display Properties, and other system tools and settings. You're allowed to save any combination of settings as a Filter Policy, which makes it easy to apply customized levels of access for other users.

In our tests, we weren't able to bypass WindowsFilter to open disabled Windows components, but we were able to open hidden folders. While they weren't shown in the typical places like Windows Explorer, hidden folders could be accessed by typing the complete path in the command prompt window.

This 21-day trial software makes it easy to choose the level of access other users will have on your PC, but if you need full-blown folder protection, you'll want to look elsewhere.

With 5 users on my system, I was in need of software that would help me hide my sensitive files (taxes, banking, etc.) as wells as limit my children to certain functions, and commands of the system so I decided to try this one. One of the best things I could have done for myself and my children. The profile portion of the program allows me to switch between adult user and children with eas and without worry. I am also very pleased with their support team. When I updated to the new 2.0 version, I had a few problems that they were able to reolve overnight, jump on to their forum, left a messeage and we had corrections to the software the next day, no problem left untouched. They have even resolved the problem of getting into directories thru the command program of Windows XP. I am one staisfied customer, with the software and the company that makes it.

Maybe it is not a best tool to protect his computer for everyone, but it is very helpful for me. I no longer worry my kids "destroy" my computer, they can be allowed to use my computer but not be able to access most of software I don't want to show them.
