• Uncomplicated and does the job

  Easy and intuitive to use, so you can make a reasonable album without wading through reams of user guide or puzzling overclever features that don't really add much usability. Generates clean, easy to edit, HTML if you want customise the pages.

  Cons

  None unless you are looking for a more sophisticated product.

  Summary

  It's free. It's easy to use, easy to integrate into your web site, and easy to edit the finished HTML pages. And again - it's free!

  Web Album Generator: Very Simple. Thanks a lot for such a useful software (Freeware). I'm using this software to create Web Albums and have also recommended it for my friends.. This software HAS: 1) Easy Installation and to use, Good Program size.. Consumes acceptable resources. Fast. Easy Step by step tutorial. 2) Has simple options for naming the pics and its corresponding html files. 3) Saves the Album as separate file which can be opened to edit later (like playlist in music players). 4) The quality of the Photos is also good. The size of the Folder containing 40 Original images from the Digital camera is 100Mb (2816 x 2112), where as the size generated web album folder including all the HTML, Photo and thumbnail files is just 4Mb (800 x 600). Generates the Web Album into a single folder which is a useful feature for many as the single folder can be zipped and out into webspace and unzipped there. But this makes a bit difficult if there are many photos and you want to edit the html files. I feel its better not to add more than 60 Photos in a single web album. This software NEEDS: 1. More templates. 2. Custom and Editing of HTML Templates. 3. Back Next Links beside the Photo as it helps in faster navigation when the screen size is smaller as the time taken for reaching the Navigation links is saved. 4. More sorting options and buttons. Sorting options in Right Click menu will also help a lot. 5. More Photo naming options. 6. Extrating Meta Data from the photos like date, time etc., and options to add it to the web album in the html file below the photo will be good. This Web Album Generator is very useful if you are a beginner or making the web albums for the first time and having a basic HTML knowledge. I have put 2 albums on my website made by this software and will put more albums. I am waiting for the new version of Web Album Generator with more features.

  Pros

  A very straightforward programme. <p> <p>1. Add/remove pictures/folders. (Add comments/titles/rotation) <p>2. Generate web album (Dialog box of customizing your layout/CSS appears. <p> <p>That's it! Voila! Dead simple.

  Cons

  - No FTP integration. (Upload using windows explorer or external FTP apps) <p>- No multi-thumbnail previews (prior to generation of web album). <p>- Doesn't create sub-folders to house the originals/thumbnails/etc after generating web album (Note that ALL files are dumped into one folder - can be very messy with huge amount of pictures.)

  Extremely easy to install and use; allows you to change the order, title and caption of your photos before creating the album; gives you choice over the colour of font, position/size of thumbnails & photos; very useful tips, especially the one after the album has been created telling you very clearly how to upload it to your web server - this was my first time creating a web album and thanks to this program and its easy instructions it was a breeze

  Cons

  The only criticism I have is of the layout - the resulting web page resembles the photo album layout in Spaces, with navigation thumbnails or 'Prev/Next' as links to flick through the pictures. But in my browser it requires scrolling down the page to find the link that flicks to the next photo. Therefore I wish there was an option to make it easier to browse through the photos briskly, for example, having the option to omit the navigation thumbnails and just have "Prev" and "Next" on either side of the photo.

  It does what it's supposed to do. Quickly. I have a thing for small programs that do one thing well. You can make templates for your color schemes, and it neatly and relatively quickly resizes your pics for web display, in a nice quality.

  Cons

  It's sometimes not as tactile as you'd expect in 2005... Like ctrl + backspace doesn't work. <p>Being able to customize the layout a little more would be nice, but as I said, I like small programs... This takes 15 seconds to learn to use.

  I was extremely impressed with this product, but regrettably, it didn't do what I wanted. I was after something that would simply create a single page of thumbnails for all the images in a directory. What it does is create an index page of thumbnails, that links to multiple other HTML pages, one per image. For this task, it's absolutely brilliant, and strongly recommended. For making a single-page contact sheet, though, I went with XnView instead.

  Wish this program would do whole folders and recreate the directory structure on the web server. Only handles individual photos. I have almost 4000 pics to post and this is not feasable to do manually.

  I try various shareware and freeware products, but I have to admit that this is the first time I ever rate a download. This product is simply incredible. It's simple to use. It's effective. There may be some additional options I would like to see added, but hey for a free product, this thing is excellent!
