If you have the patience to learn, this space-quest game offers surprisingly compelling gameplay and a healthy feature set at no cost. Before you play Wazzal, a fellow named Dusky Joe informs you that you are captain of a band of space pirates and helps steer you in the direction of your first mission. After that, you'll travel around the galaxy undertaking various tasks while avoiding asteroids and engaging in battles with alien ships. However, maneuvering your ship and firing can take a while to master. Even though the program lets you reconfigure the controls, it users numerical code to represent keys instead of actual names, which further complicates matters. Other features include the ability to disable sound and music, show nebulae and stars, and enable Easy mode. Though the graphics aren't amazing, they are much better than you'd expect for a game that won't cost you anything. If you're short on cash, have some time on your hands, and enjoy games with an outer-space theme, Wazzal may be the game for you.

It's original, good plot, exellent concept, accurate mapping (which is rare in such games), fun and random, there are a million routes you might take.

Back when I was young I played a game named Escape Velocity on my old Mac G3. Well, I grew up, ended up with a Dell, and this game comes pretty close to that distant memory. Space trading. Battles. I can't say this game is better than Ambrosia Software's Escape Velocity in terms of playability, but in graphics I can say it's good, and the battle system is damn cool... just wish you could MOD it like you could with EV into a Star Wars universe based game!

Not too much, just slightly repetitive... the ship selection isn't spectacular, and above all else, you can't modify your ships at all, you're just stuck with what you capture. I just wish it could be a bit more complex... still well worth the download though.
