This audio converter's extremely narrow focus prevents it from trumping more-powerful competitors. WaveNet mp3 simply compresses WAV files into the MP3 format. We really wish the program also supported other popular audio codecs, such as WMA and OGG. The nonresizable interface lacks polish but at least is easy to use. To convert tracks in single or batch mode, you simply locate the files on your PC and press a button. You can add information for artist, title, album, and genre, as well as specify bit rate, frequency, and audio quality. However, you won't find any advanced features such as support for the VBR compression scheme or the ability to normalize tracks in batch mode. Happily, WaveNet mp3 has a saving grace: It's completely free and doesn't place any restrictions on usage. Folks seeking advanced features or support for multiple codecs should look elsewhere, but those in need of a simple, free MP3 encoder will find this program does the job.

I could not get this porgram to open because it said that this version is out of date and said to go to phoenixmediasoft to get the latest version. I went to that web site and downloaded the latest version and it did the same thing when I tried to open it. I tried 5 times and gave up.

This program can encode more than one mp3 at a time, which is very usefull for me, instead of having to convert 1 by 1, i just scelect my 100 or so files (with what i do with it, yes i convert that many) and take a break from the computer for a few mins...:)

I do a lot of recording, and some places(like download.com) require specific audio file properties. I use a program called Audacity, and with WaveNET, I can export MP3s and WAVE files from Audacity with the specific properties that I need. <p> <p>VERY useful
