Taken directly from the EULA: "12. RIGHTS OF THE THIRD PARTIES The product ?MultiCore AntiVirus & AntiSpyware? uses: - F-PROT Antivirus API/SDK and all related F-PROT Antivirus Virus Signature Files from FRISK Software International; - Norman Virus Control Software Development Kit and all related Norman Virus Control Virus Signature Files from Norman ASA; - Lavasoft Ad-Aware SDK and all related Lavasoft Ad-Aware Signature Files from Lavasoft AB; - Sunbelt Counterspy SDK and all related Counterspy Signature Files from Sunbelt Software Inc." I wouldn't trust a program that borrows from superior programs, especially when they expect you to pay them for the technology they didn't create in the first place.

In my opinion you should be suspicious when the review are all positive. The program is in my opinion ineffective and misleading. I've owned the 2006 professional version for less than a year and they will not let me update into 2007--not what I was lead to believe when I bought the program. They are not responding to my attempts to contact them via e-mail. <p> <p>The I/O Port monitor is ineffective--does not monitor or close ports based on my tests with other programs. When I recently added NOD32 Antivirus program, it found and removed 2 viruses. VirusKeeper found nothing. <p> <p>Both VirusKeeper programs seem to get the same reviews on Download.com. They all say the same positive things without any critisms--seems to me Viruskeeper may be writing their own reviews.

Viruskeeper seemed to perform as claimed during the trial period. It wasnÃ¢Â€Â™t until after I had purchased the Pro version that I noticed Viruskeeper every 2 to 3 minutes would spike the CPU usage of my PC to 100 percent. <p> <p>During the several second spike in CPU usage, Viruskeeper affected other programs running and in some cases caused them unusable until it finished itÃ¢Â€Â™s processes. For example: during the use of MS Word, I was typing a sentence then the keyboard seemed to not react to my typing. I always run Windows Task Manager minimized on the system tray and could see CPU usage was at 100 percent and MS Word was not responding to my typing during the spike in CPU. Having this happen every 2 to 3 minutes became quite annoying. <p> <p>To be sure it was Viruskeeper, I closed word then just monitored Windows Task Manager and sure enough after every 2 minutes CPU usage spiked to 100 percent and Task Manager showed that Viruskeeper was running process causing the spike. Viruskeeper was initially installed on my Windows XP Pro PC. I then tried the software on my Windows 2003 Server and got the same results Ã¢Â€Â“ spiking CPU. This system has more memory and ram and Viruskeeper although it did not spike CPU to 100 percent, it still every 2 minutes increased CPU usage over 50 percent. <p> <p>I email support and they responded by asking me to send a screen shot showing them how Windows Task Manager was showing the 100 percent CPU usage which I did. I sent 3 additional emailÃ¢Â€Â™s to support asking them when they will be fixing the bug and all 3 emailÃ¢Â€Â™s I sent were unanswered. <p> <p>Folks, I would stay clear of this software for two reasonÃ¢Â€Â™s. One Ã¢Â€Â“ consistently maxing out CPU usage and negatively affecting other running programs. Two Ã¢Â€Â“ no support not even a returned email saying they would look into it. I would not recommend installing the software until the company cleans up their code in Viruskeeper and they do a much better job at customer service!

The free PC Security Test 2005 is part of the same company as VirusKeeper 2005. It is easy for the the virus checker to rate highly as they produced the PC Security Test.

Do you think you should trust a product that is supported by another product from the same company? How much do you pay again? $35 for 860kb of software? Fishy...

Pros
VirusKeeper is superior to many "clones" out there. The latest version has many improvements such as; using less memory making the scans much faster than before. The results are more in detail to what was found with an improved gui. I like VirusKeeper alot, It's catches alot of things.
