VideoMate is loaded with features designed just for video rental stores. There's point of sale module that has barcode support, a backup feature, and searchable databases for inventory and customers. You can print receipts and reports, and you can export a mailing list of customers to a Microsoft Word Mail Merge. It supports networking, too.

We skipped VideoMate's manual and went straight to the setup module, which prompts you for basic information about your store. The setup module has a vast array of options for establishing your store's pricing structure. Entering data is easy, a boon for a program designed to manage large amounts of information. The customer database has a number of useful fields in addition to name and address. You can specify the customer's date of birth, store credit card numbers, indicate any late fees, and add additional family members and their dates of birth to the account. We were impressed with the versatility of the video database as well. You can enter the title of the movie, select its genre from the list provided, indicate its MPAA rating, and designate the format of the movie: video, DVD, or Blu-ray. VideoMate even gives you the option to distribute and receive gift cards as well as selling merchandise.

The trial version of the VideoMate is limited to 50 customers and video titles. We encountered no problems installing and uninstalling the program. This is well-designed software with many customizable features that will help video store owners run their businesses more efficiently.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />After purchasing a going concern, including their computer and videMate,The Software worked for me for nearly 5 years. it did the job well. I formatted the hard drive by mistake and this bunch would not help me. They asked for original purchase details and i incorrectly spelled the name of the company i bought from. after much mud-slinging and back and forth, nothing! I know i made a mistake (two actually if you include the mis-splelt name) but this is too much money for this kind of attitude. They (Richard Worth) would not take the time to contact the company i purchased from to confirm. here are the transcripts of our correspondence: The licence was for Stargate Video Alberton. Apparently Mr Heard was running the program in two locations (or more) though he only bought a licence for one - a breach of copyright. I'm afraid we can't help you with the new key under those circumstances. This is a great program for video renting. The author of the software was very nice and answered all my questions. There is a Ver 10 on his site that is much better then this one on download.com

I have always received excellent support for this software. I think David probably didn't take the trouble to read the manual. My seven year old daughter could use the barcode software with no help at all.

i just downloaded the software about a week ago..for the most part i liked it until i had some questions and wanted support for some questions i had for the bar code software....heres the reply i received from the developer.. "If you are not intelligent enough to work it our, I guess there's no point explaining it to you. You can buy barcode labelling software. It will cost about as much as VideoMate, and it won't interface with VideoMate." ENOUGH SAID!! I WOULD RECOMMEND SPENDING THE EXTRA MONEY GOING WITH A PROFESSIONAL & RELIABLE COMPANY.
