Your goal in life is to become the world's most powerful Venture capitalist. You plan to accomplish this goal by making shrewd business decisions. What company should you start? When should you start it, and where? Should you try for a hostile take over of a neighboring company? Merge with the competition? Should you try to increase profits by taking short cuts? What about the local community? Will there be consequences for such actions? These are just some of the tough decisions you will have to make in order to become the world's leading Venture capitalist.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I registered this game as soon as it was released. If you love the board game "Acquire" than this is the game to get for your computer. I can understand how some are confused as to how to play, but this is almost a direct translation of the board game. I suggest you look up the rules to "Acquire." I think you'll have a much better understanding of what to do. Venture's gameplay instructions are not that difficult to grasp anyway.
My only peave is that I'm not a big fan of the "wood look." I much prefered the original basic look. It was lighter. All this wood maked the game seem "thick."
Otherwise, great game!
Mediocre at best

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The graphics are functional, the AI is good, and the rest of it sucks. There are a whole bunch of seemingly arbitrary rules not outlined in the documentation. You will often come opon "Merger not allowed by Safe Rule" or something. It seems that there must be a buffer of 3 or so companies before 2 companies can merge. Also, WHY CAN I NOT SELL STOCKS WHEN I WANT TO?!!! If you're trying to make a simulation, please at least make it accurate. When I see that a company is about to die, I want to sell my stock in it.

Documentation is inadequate. I spent three minutes trying to figure out why I wasn't allowed to put properties where I wanted to. And I still don't understand the scoring system at all.

The demo doesn't show the fun of the full game - perhaps push the limit on the number of corporations, but make more players available in the full version.
