  Plug-ins that do not work under all configurations. Technical Support is poor. The individual classifies himself as a PhD, and yet needs to take classes in Customer Service. He is rude, and condescending. As US citizens, do we expect anything different when dealing with overseas companies.

  Summary

  I am very surprised that the program supports Voice modems. We are in the 2000's, voice modems went out fifteen years ago. However, if you are looking for a voice modem. There is a company that continues to manufacturer them. The company's name is Multi-Tech systems. They are not inexpensive.

• Beware of the install package of the latest version

  It crashed my laptop. I lost very, very important data. The program installed all of its files in the program tree and not into a Ventafax folder. So when you go to uninstall, the uninstaller starts uninstalling many things in the program list.

  Summary

  I will never, ever, never install anything from these people again. Restore doesn't help and if I could, I would give it a negative star rating. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

  the rudest and most useless customer support you will ever witness in your life.. this is probably a one man show and it is quite evindent that the support email uses false name and details also. be prepared to lose your time and effort

  if you have money to throw away then yes get this.. alternatively if you want to use a case study fo the worst customer support ever, also go for this.

  Truly set and forget. More friendly than your typical fax machine. Caller id on screen. Call recording and answering machine capacity if needed. Distinctive ring answers fax calls, turns potential gimick into business tool.

  Lack of information concerning setting up to obtain promoted features (outlined below).

  Summary

  Read the following and save yourself a lot of hassle since it took me a lot of trial and error and hard work and time to get this set up. First, if you want distinctive ring capability and/or caller id, it's all in the modem. Next, I searched venta fax help and online forums high and low to find a list of suitable modems (and never did), and I wasn't even sure if it was going to work on Australian phone system. To cut to the chase, the correct modem for the job is one of the following: Netcomm MyModem V.92 BD3068, or Netcomm Roadster V.92 AM5698. Finally, these modems are serial port modems and if your computer doesn't have a serial port you will need to buy a PCI card with an RS232 serial port for your computer. These cards will plug and play, city software have them for about $40. When you connect your modem you will have to install its driver. This normally requires a reboot. Now is the time to install venta fax, after the modem driver is installed (probably also requiring a time consuming reboot). The reason for this is venta fax will only detect your modem when it is run for the first time, as I found the detect modem button within venta fax doesn't cut it. Now when you have a bunch of different modems to test for your desired features (as I did) and you have to uninstall venta fax each time to get that initial "detect modem", it is easy to lose respect for the software, but it never got as bad as my past experiences with actual fax machines. Questions to customer support did get answered, and I guess they did point me in the right direction, but only just. My suggestions for refining the software were brushed off. However, the above issues pertaining to setup are so fundamental they should be covered in the introduction, but you will get answers by contacting a modem manufacturer (Netcomm in my case). A convenient feature enables you to assemble your faxes to send by attaching doc's and pdf's, even if the process is clunky and a little adventurous. Attaching a document to the scan and fax feature doesn't work however and this could be a concern if you fail to notice only the scanned portion has been sent. Final word. The main features are due to the modem, so it is possible there is better fax software is out there. However, I find the software to be silent and reliable, and I have never suffered a loss due to fax issues since setting up venta fax (business version). The latest version allows you to easily back up all settings and faxes for migration or reinstallation. The distinctive ring detection makes an ongoing business tool out of what would otherwise be more gimmicky software.

  I bought the 2 line business around 250.00. I had a problem with windows xp that I could not repair so I reloaded windows xp on a different partition on my computer and so I needed a new License for venta fax when I reloaded it. Wrong since I bought it in 2007 it was already ancient so I needed to pay them a fee of $94.00 more dollars to upgrade my software and get a new license. I think I made a big mistake buying this software. I am using Communicate 10 which was around $30.00 and it does the same thing. More user friendly easy to configure and so far does what I need it to answer phone and fax line.

  Not much if you buy the software. We purchased 2 line business version. OK if you are using it free.

  Cons

  No customer support to speak of. Emails not returned from Leonid Kluev, PhD. No telephone help. Poor/No documentation of the settings in the program.

  Summary

  No/Little customer support. Finally gave up using the software and went back to previous software. $249 down the drain. DON'T BUY THIS SOFTWARE!

  The program works fine but nothing exciting. The setup menu is way too complicated, just going through all the setup items takes much time. The customer support is the worst I ever encountered.

  Easy to use. Has all the features I need (home based business) Email support for it is awesome.

  Cons

  After Dialing from the software (for example a number on the phonebook) I will have to make sure the phone is diconnected - But ,Again, This may probably be a modem problem (I use a hardware modem) -Anyway - Get this software it still the BEST!

  Summary

  Been using it since mid 2005 and found it tobe the best Fax solution - I use it as my main phonebook. Stellar performance.

  Poor installation routine. Clunky interface Doesn't show up in Control Panel for uninstalled - which worries me.

  Summary

  I loaded this which took awhile and was uncomfortably unusual with interface questions during installation and how data input was requested. Following the install I discovered that my modem was not "voice capable" ...this would have been nice to know before I loaded it. So I want to uninstall it - unfortunately it doesn't show up in Control Panel - Remove Program routine... this is weird and disturbing. HOW DO I get rid of this useless software? I would advise against download/install even if CNET has tested it to be free of spyware and viruses - it doesn't adhere to basic Windows functionality which makes you wonder if the programmers know what they're doing.

  Pros

  Easy installation, a lot of features, works on Vista 64. Detected modem automatically, was able to turned on features based on modem capabilities. Minimizes to task to receive faxes automatically.

  Cons

  The UI is not streamlined, extra windows come up when you don't really need/expect them. the App is very powerfull, so it has a lot of setup and options that make it harder to manage, they are not well organized.

  Summary

  I installed on a HP Pavilion with Windows Vista 64, it does exactly what it says it says. Software UI could be cleaned up, especially some of the options and log screens.
